Their first album Una Canción was produced and released in 1993 by Sony Music, who signed the group as an award after it controversially won a local battle of the bands for local radio station Radioactiva, against rock band EL Zut. The winning song was "Bailando sobre tu Piel".
The album's main hits were: "Desvanecer" composed by Turbay, "Una Canción", "Mi Generación" and "Beverly Hills". The song "Beverly Hills" was composed at the time the TV-series Beverly Hills 90210 was popular in local television.
Their second album was released in 1995 under the title Vueltas y Vueltas. The main hits were "Confusión" written by Turbay and "Fue Solo Amor".
The final studio album was released in 1996, and it did not receive great reception from the audience nor it had any major hit.
Poligamia decided to break up in 1998 because of the interest of each member to follow different careers in music and production. The farewell concert was programmed as the first in a festival with different bands from Bogota and was recorded as a live album named "Buenas Gracias - Muchas Noches" that included a live performance of the band's main hits and a new song named "Hasta que venga la mañana". Also, the album included a bonus track named "Ciertas Cosas". This song was lately re-recorded by Andres Cepeda in his first solo album "Se Morir"
Sony Music released a Poligamia greatest hits album in 2001.

The lyrics of Poligamia's song "Solo por eso" tell the story of a woman who escapes in a dark night, dragging her boots and staining the rug. She looks strange with her wet hair and walks slowly in the rain on a Saturday. The chorus describes her aspiration for something so profound that she drowns in the air, and through her magic, she travels through the wind to steal a kiss and suddenly explodes because of that. The verses also suggest that she and the singer have been driving around the streets in an old car, and they have learned that the world is so far away from home. They thought love was eternal, but it left them without warning on a winter’s night. The song is about those unexpected events that transform us forever.
The song's lyrics are poetic and beautifully written, describing the melancholy and nostalgic feelings of the singer toward a woman who has gone from his life. The reference to the moon, the rain, and the darkness enhances the mood of the song, making it vivid and charged with emotions. The chorus provides the main theme of the song, emphasizing the transformative power of love and the magic of human connection.

Grande Poligamia
