1) Pond is an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has comprised
Jay Watson (also of Tame Impala), Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala), Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.
The original idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative musical project. Their first album was released soon after in January 2009, titled Psychedelic Mango, which contained many psychedelic rock and pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, was completed live with an eight piece band in five days, and released in June 2009. This led to the creation of their 2010 album, Frond, released in May 2010, featuring a heavier pop influence than previously heard from them.
After the breakthrough success of Innerspeaker, the debut album by Tame Impala, a band which shares three members with Pond, the album Beard, Wives, Denim was recorded in 2010 and later released to critical acclaim in March 2012.

Elegant Design
Pond Lyrics

(?)
Walking around with broken pants
She said she never (?)
But I don't really mind
It's just so hard to find
Black and (?)
For a little piece of mind
All I'm trying to find is an elegant design
(?) dripping pass the time
Mountains crash into the sea, but it doesn't seem to worry me
I only think of you
Take the easy way
That's what my friends all say
But I don't think they really get the point of elegance today
I'm sure it's gonna end
I may not have any friends
But at the end of the day, I think I'll be okay
If I work it out instead
All I'm trying to find is an elegant design
(?) dripping pass the time
Mountains crash into the sea, but it doesn't seem to worry me
I only think of you
I only think of you
The lyrics of Pond's song Elegant Design suggest a longing for something that is not easily attainable. The theme revolves around the search for an elegant design, whether it be in clothing or in life itself. The singer seems to be in a state of contemplation, evaluating the choices he is making and wondering if they are leading him to where he wants to be.
The line "All I'm trying to find is an elegant design" represents the overarching motif of the song. He is searching for something that is both visually pleasing and functional. The lyrics "Take the easy way, that's what my friends all say" indicate the societal pressure to conform to the norm of settling for what is easy, but the singer rejects this notion, seeking something more meaningful.
The chorus "Mountains crash into the sea, but it doesn't seem to worry me, I only think of you" represents the singer's focus on love amidst the chaos and difficulties of life. The mountains and sea symbolize obstacles, but he is not concerned with them as long as he has his love. In the end, he realizes that what matters most is not the journey, but the person he shares it with.
