Reamonn was a German rock and pop band that is well known all over Europe. They recorded six albums and disbandoned in 2010.
In 1998, Rea Garvey left his band The Reckless Pedestrians and home town of Tralee, Ireland to go to Germany with not a lot money and a demo CD in his pocket. He put an ad into local paper Stockacher Anzeiger stating, "Singer requires band for recording and live shows." Mike Gommeringer (Gomezz) saw this ad and accurately assumed it must have been Garvey, whose original band he had once seen play live. The twosome met up and subsequently recruited Uwe, Sebi and Phil. Their first gig was played on New Year's Eve 1998 in Stockach.
In order to secure a recording contract, they set up a showcase at Logo, a small club in Hamburg, in front of 16 representatives from various record labels in 1999. The band was quickly offered several contracts, settling on signing with Virgin Records Germany. As of 2006 they are now releasing their music through Universal Music.
Their best known songs are: Supergirl and Tonight(2006).
In 2011, Rea started his solo career and as of 2018, released 4 albums so far: Can't stand the silence, Pride, Prisma and Neon. Rea continues to work with national and international artists like Kool Savas, Jam & Spoon, Paul van Dyk or Mary J. Blige.
In the past, he recorded a new version of "All good things come to an end" with Nelly Furtado.
For several German movies he provided solo tracks even before Reamonn disbandoned.
He regularely appears at a coach of the German Version of "The Voice" or "The Voice Kids".
Rea married in 2002 and together with their child, they live in Berlin.
Different World

I was gone before the first goodbye was said
It's just easier that way
And since that day, it's all I've known
Leaving is the start of coming home
That's all that keeps me sane
It's a different world between plastic keys and elevators
It's a different world between pots and pans and kitchen tables
But I wouldn't change a minute of my life
But I wouldn't change a minute of my life
Wake up calls and carpet floors
Sleepin' in a room that's never yours
Watchin' TV on demand
To a broken couch and a car alarm
And knowin' that I'll wake up in your arms
Doin' nothin' just because we can
It's a different world between plastic keys and elevators
Funny how a dream can make you cry
It's a different world between pots and pans and kitchen tables
But I wouldn't change a minute of my life
But I wouldn't change a minute of my life
As crazy as it sounds, I've lived this life for so long
I've learned that goodbyes are the cross I have to bear
And if God gave me a chance to do it all again
Well, I wouldn't change a minute of my life
'Cause it's a different world between plastic keys and elevators
Funny how a dream can make you cry
It's a different world between pots and pans and kitchen tables
But I wouldn't change a minute of this life
But I wouldn't change a minute of my life
The lyrics of Rea Garvey's "Different World" explore the conflicting emotions and experiences that come with a nomadic lifestyle. The singer expresses a sense of detachment and ease in leaving places and people behind, feeling that it is easier to embrace constant movement. Leaving becomes a familiar routine, and the act of leaving becomes the beginning of the journey back home.
The song highlights the stark differences between the transient world of hotel rooms and the mundane comforts of home. Plastic keys and elevators symbolize the transitory nature of living on the road, while pots and pans and kitchen tables represent the stability and familiarity of a settled life. Despite the challenges and the occasional moments of melancholy, the singer finds solace in the unique experiences and the freedom that this lifestyle offers.
The lyrics also touch upon the idea that goodbyes are a necessary part of this life, and the singer has come to accept them as a burden they must bear. They have learned to appreciate the transient moments and have grown accustomed to the bittersweet feeling of constantly leaving. The singer concludes that even if given the chance to start over, they would not change a single minute of this unconventional life.
Overall, "Different World" celebrates the beauty and complexities of a nomadic existence, acknowledging its unique challenges while cherishing the freedom and richness it brings.
