Reamonn was a German rock and pop band that is well known all over Europe. They recorded six albums and disbandoned in 2010.
In 1998, Rea Garvey left his band The Reckless Pedestrians and home town of Tralee, Ireland to go to Germany with not a lot money and a demo CD in his pocket. He put an ad into local paper Stockacher Anzeiger stating, "Singer requires band for recording and live shows." Mike Gommeringer (Gomezz) saw this ad and accurately assumed it must have been Garvey, whose original band he had once seen play live. The twosome met up and subsequently recruited Uwe, Sebi and Phil. Their first gig was played on New Year's Eve 1998 in Stockach.
In order to secure a recording contract, they set up a showcase at Logo, a small club in Hamburg, in front of 16 representatives from various record labels in 1999. The band was quickly offered several contracts, settling on signing with Virgin Records Germany. As of 2006 they are now releasing their music through Universal Music.
Their best known songs are: Supergirl and Tonight(2006).
In 2011, Rea started his solo career and as of 2018, released 4 albums so far: Can't stand the silence, Pride, Prisma and Neon. Rea continues to work with national and international artists like Kool Savas, Jam & Spoon, Paul van Dyk or Mary J. Blige.
In the past, he recorded a new version of "All good things come to an end" with Nelly Furtado.
For several German movies he provided solo tracks even before Reamonn disbandoned.
He regularely appears at a coach of the German Version of "The Voice" or "The Voice Kids".
Rea married in 2002 and together with their child, they live in Berlin.
Love Hurts
Rea Garvey Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
You're so cold, your fingers are numb
Your eyes can't believe what has come to pass
And your mind is still trying to understand
'Cause you lost everything that you have
You're too tired to be sad
Too weak to be strong for those you love
Don't hang like a willow tree, say you'll wait for me
Wait for me
Your love's a curse
It leaves you blind
There's nothing worse
Than someone saying, "It heals in time"
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
Your skin's torn to ribbons, you're 'fraid
You lie in that bed you both made
Life's so cruel
And somewhere you'll find the strength
And someday I swear this will end
And your heart will beat again
For someone new
Don't hang like a willow tree, say you'll wait for me
Wait for me
Love's a curse
It leaves you blind
There's nothing worse
Than someone saying, "It heals in time"
Love just hurts
You're losing your mind
Still you want it all the time, want it all the time
Love, love, love
Love's a curse
It leaves you blind
There's nothing worse
Than someone saying, "It heals in time"
Love just hurts
You're losing your mind
You want it all the time, you want it in your mind
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
Love, love, love (love, love, love)
The lyrics to Rea Garvey's song "Love Hurts" depict the emotional aftermath of a painful breakup or loss. The opening lines set the scene of the singer feeling cold and numb, unable to comprehend what has happened. They have lost everything they held dear and are emotionally exhausted, unable to grieve properly for the sake of their loved ones. The plea to "wait for me" suggests that the singer is longing for a second chance or for someone to hold on while they find their way back from this emotional turmoil.
The chorus emphasizes the destructive nature of love, portraying it as a curse that blinds and leaves scars. The idea that time heals may be seen as dismissive or frustrating to the singer, suggesting that they are stuck in a cycle of longing and pain. The second verse delves further into the physical and psychological toll of the heartbreak, with imagery of torn skin and fear. However, there is also a glimmer of hope as the lyrics hint at the eventual fading of the pain and the possibility of finding love again.
