[Chorus: till Fade]
The lyrics to Richie Spiceβs βThat Ghetto Girlβ speak about a girl from the ghetto who is often misunderstood by society. The song is an ode to this girl who faces constant struggles and is underestimated by others simply because of where she comes from. The chorus repeats βghetto girlβ and makes it clear that the song is all about her. While people may think that just because she smiles she is simple and soft, they quickly realize that she is much more than that.
The first verse of the song talks about how this ghetto girl only needs a chance in life to show what she can do. She is polite, ambitious and decent but often goes unnoticed. Despite her difficulties, she is a warrior and a champion who just needs someone to give her a break. The chorus repeats again, reinforcing the notion that just because she comes from the ghetto, she shouldnβt be underestimated or undervalued. The second verse speaks about her loyalty and how she is always by her loved oneβs side. She can ride with you through any struggles and challenges, and is a star and a fighter in her own right. The third verse praises the girl for her honesty and her pride, and claims that she is the cleanest girl around.
This song is a powerful tribute to the struggles that people living in the ghetto often face. It is all too easy to stereotype or write off someone due to where they come from, but this song reminds us that we shouldnβt be so quick to judge. Instead, we should take the time to see the potential and the strengths that lie beneath the surface of peopleβs lives.
