Happy Birthday Jesus Christ
Robbie Williams Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm not religious but I'll take advice
Man, that day you gave was nice
Happy birthday, Jesus Christ
You make people here so happy
Love that thing you did with the scampi
Happy birthday, Jesus Christ

I'll break bread with you
If you really need me too
You can turn water to wine
And your actual birthday is at Christmastime

I get a feeling, deep in my soul
It's a four-letter word and it's taking me home
It goes L-O-V-E
The message is love, and you feel like Jesus to me

Everything's so overpriced
Like Justin Bieber's merchandise
Happy birthday, Jesus Christ
(Happy birthday, Jesus Christ)
Healed the lame, forgave the foolish
And on your first birthday you Jewish
Happy birthday, Jesus Christ

I'll break bread with you
If you really need me too
And you can turn water to wine
And your actual birthday is at Christmastime

I get a feeling, deep in my soul
It's a four-letter word and it's taking me home
It goes L-O-V-E
The message is love, and you feel like Jesus to me
The message is love, and you feel like Jesus to me
The message is love, and you feel like Jesus to me

(All I want)
Take me to church now
(All I need)
Take me to, take me to, take me to church

I get a feeling, deep in my soul
It's a four-letter word and it's taking me home
It goes L-O-V-E
The message is love, and you feel like Jesus to me

The message is love, and you feel like Jesus to me
The message is love, and you feel like Jesus to me

Overall Meaning

In Robbie Williams's song "Happy Birthday Jesus Christ," the lyrics convey a mixture of playful irony, admiration, and a hint of skepticism towards religion. The opening lines establish the singer's non-religious stance, stating that although he may not hold religious beliefs, he appreciates the positive impact that Jesus Christ has had on people's lives. The use of the phrase "Happy birthday, Jesus Christ" is both a tongue-in-cheek play on the traditional birthday greeting and a recognition of the significant role Jesus plays in Christianity.

The lyrics continue with references to Jesus's miracles, such as turning water into wine and healing the lame, highlighting the power and admiration the singer holds for him. The line "And on your first birthday you Jewish" suggests a touch of irony, acknowledging the historical context of Jesus's birth within Judaism.

The chorus changes the tone slightly by expressing a personal connection to Jesus through the message of love. The singer describes feeling a deep connection in his soul, using the four-letter word "love" as a powerful force that reminds him of Jesus. This connection transcends religious boundaries and brings a sense of spiritual comfort, evoking the feeling of being taken home.

Overall, "Happy Birthday Jesus Christ" combines both lighthearted jest and genuine appreciation for the positive impact of Jesus Christ and the message of love associated with him.

Peter Babnik

@Robbie Williams hello Robbie Williams, my name is Peter Babnik and I was allowed to create music between 1992 to 1997 for several music projects like take that, Gareth Gates, Britney Spears, Disney movies etc.
I remember that someone (I guess one person of the petshop boys) asked me in Erlangen/Bavaria/Germany if it is okay to use my music ideas for the Robbie Williams Project (because there was the split of take that and Robbie Williams in the 90s). I said "yes" and because the whole money topic was in my point of view in Germany and also international very dodgy I was not interested in money in the 90s (there was no money owned with not published music and of course it is a lot of work to make a music project successful! All members of a music project do a really hard work, the performer(s), the arrangers, the sound designer, the musicians, the technicians, the marketing human beings, the tour planner, the bus drivers, etc. I hope I did not forgot someone). Or yes: the music creator(s) because there should be something to make it popular (popular music = pop music and rockular music is rock music).
Robbie, I hope you are fine. I am now still in Koblenz Germany Europe (between Bonn and Mainz) and I tried to contact you before via official mail to London to make an appointment.
I play piano, a little bit guitar and also ukulele.
And I like to sing.
Politically seen I (Peter Babnik) am the Robbie Williams under the boy bands.
Thank you for your kundness to make my music ideas popular. My part of the money success I want to use to enable worldwide all human beings who want it a mobile internet devise (smartphone) or what ever they want.
This was one motivation to generate money with my music.
Marshall plan, the rise of the amout of money for political parties after elections, CumEx, etc showed: money can be made by banks and the financial minister of a state/country/nation.
This was known since decates and the seldom Bonner Republik did not realize this fact. Each human being can just get money because a human being is a human being worldwide. I repeated this 10.04.1992 and there was a (willing) misunderstanding that I could not understand.
I worked as song creator/music architect till 1997 and was a student in the 90s. The older generation was the main problem in my point of view in the 20th century, the older generation with power, abilities, knowledge and menpower. I always liked wikipedia and the possibilies of the mobile internet to empower and enable all human beings to as a human being is, to find similar groups or ideas or interests (not in the money sense!). There were many similar problems for many human beings worldwide in the 20th century which explain why there were not all human beings worldwide an elite. If all human beings are a/the elite then all elites are not necessary anymore.
I hope you understand my position. With this inner posture I tried to structure the mobile internet and to enable freedom of speech worldwide. The public media had a potential to become better in this point in my point of view even I did not know all public media worldwide.
My human beingness is just one of nowerdays 8 billions humanbeingnesses if the numbers are right.
Best wishes Peter
I like to do a duet with you if you like. I like your music style πŸ™‚

In 1995, you were 21, and I was 18
Back then, if someone would have told me that after 25 years Robbie will be singing a song for Jesus, and you are gonna love it... I would have laughed really hard!

Peter Babnik

This song was made before 1997. I was born 1968 and did not know that music projects have such a long planning in advance. I did a lot of music from 1992 to 1997 for the "global chats music" (because for me Peter Babnik existed youtube (should be named "yourtube" but I suggested the more altruistic version) already 1992).
So I was allowed to create as much music as I wanted.
This just for explaination. Best wishes Peter
