Williams has received a record 18 Brit Awards, winning Best British Male Artist four times, Outstanding Contribution to Music twice, an Icon Award for his lasting impact on British culture, eight German ECHO Awards, and three MTV European Music Awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted the Greatest Artist of the 1990s. According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), he has been certified for 20.2 million albums and 8.66 million singles in the UK as a solo artist. Five of his albums have also topped the Australian albums chart, and has sold 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He also topped the 2000–2010 UK airplay chart. His three concerts at Knebworth in 2003 drew over 375,000 people, the UK's biggest music event to that point. In 2014, he was awarded the freedom of his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent and had a tourist trail created and streets named in his honour. Williams' thirteenth album, XXV was released on 9 September 2022.
After 15 years, Williams rejoined Take That in 2010 to co-write and perform lead vocals on their album Progress, which became the second-fastest-selling album in UK chart history and the fastest-selling record of the century at the time. The subsequent stadium tour, which featured seven songs from Williams' solo career, became the biggest-selling concert in UK history when it sold 1.34 million tickets in less than 24 hours. In 2011, Take That frontman Gary Barlow confirmed that Williams had left the band for a second time to focus on his solo career, although he stated that the departure was amicable and that Williams was welcome to rejoin Take That in the future. Williams has since performed with Take That on three separate television appearances, and collaborated with Barlow on a number of projects such as the West End musical The Band.

'Cause you turned the beat to thunder
You're twenty five below
Don't it make you wonder why
Let's get it on, and on, and on, and on
Let's get it on, and on, and on
Let's get it on, and on, and on, and on
Girl, I don't know why you're not H-A-P-P-Y
So you wanna find a real man?
Make him fall in love?
No matter how thick your skin is
Never thick enough
Someone that you can lean on
When times are tough
Maybe there's a reason
Girl, I don't know why you get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive (When I touch it)
You get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive (And you love it, yeah)
You get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive
Sometimes I wonder 'cause
Girl, I don't know why you're not H-A-P-P-Y
Maybe you came from outer space
Maybe I can help you let go
When you walk around the place
All that I can hear is your echo
If I heard what you've been saying
Then you know it isn't right
There's always something I'm not doing
That won't keep you satisfied
Let's get it on, and on, and on, and on
Girl, I don't know why you're not H-A-P-P-Y
So you wanna find a real man?
Make him fall in love?
No matter how thick your skin is
Never thick enough
Someone that you can lean on
When times are tough
Maybe there's a reason
Girl, I don't know why you get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive (When I touch it)
You get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive (And you love it, yeah)
You get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive
Sometimes I wonder 'cause
Girl, I don't know why you're not H-A-P-P-Y
Just finding reasons
That I can make you happy, happy
Just finding reasons
That I can make you happy at all
Girl, I don't know why you get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive (When I touch it)
You get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive (And you love it, yeah)
You get so sensitive, sensitive, sensitive
Sometimes I wonder 'cause
Girl, I don't know why you're not H-A-P-P-Y
The lyrics to Robbie Williams's song "Sensitive" explore the complexities of a romantic relationship where one person seems to be constantly sensitive and unhappy. The song starts with the singer expressing his inability to understand this kind of love, as it feels tumultuous and overwhelming. The line "you turned the beat to thunder" suggests that this person has brought chaos and noise into the relationship, making it difficult to handle.
The singer questions why this person is not happy despite his efforts to please them. He wonders why they are so sensitive and reactive to his touch or actions. The repeated chorus emphasizes their sensitivity, suggesting that it is a recurring issue that affects their relationship. Despite the confusion and frustration, the singer expresses a desire to find ways to make this person happy.
The lyrics also hint at the possibility that this person may have come from a different background or have experienced something that has made them guarded and sensitive. The singer offers to help them let go of their past and move forward. However, there is a sense of futility as the person always finds something the singer is not doing or meeting their expectations.
Overall, "Sensitive" explores the challenges of loving someone who is constantly sensitive and unhappy. It highlights the struggle to understand and meet their needs, while also acknowledging the singer's personal frustration and confusion.
