With Every Heartbeat
Robyn with Kleerup Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Maybe we could make it all right
We could make it better sometime

Maybe we could make it happen, baby
We could keep trying
But things will never change
So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

Just a little, little bit better
Good enough to waste some time
Tell me would it make you happy, baby

We could keep trying
But things will never change
So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

We could keep trying
But things will never change
So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat

And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat

Overall Meaning

In the song With Every Heartbeat by Robyn and Kleerup, the lyrics are about a failed relationship that the singer is struggling to move on from. The chorus repeats the phrase "And it hurts with every heartbeat," emphasizing the emotional pain that the singer is feeling. The first verse talks about the possibility of reconciling with their partner, but acknowledges that things will never truly change. The singer is conflicted about whether to keep trying or to let go completely. The second verse repeats this idea, with the lyrics "We could keep trying, but things will never change." The bridge of the song suggests that even a small improvement in the relationship would be worthwhile, but ultimately the singer is unable to move on from the pain of the past.

This song's exploration of heartbreak and painful emotions is a common theme in pop music. Robyn's raw and powerful vocals help to convey the depth of feeling in the lyrics. The combination of Kleerup's electronic production and Robyn's emotional delivery creates a haunting, memorable track that has resonated with many listeners since its release in 2007.

When we wrote this Robyn asked if it was ok to write about my rocky relationship at the time. She witnessed the up’s and down’s since my girlfriend used to tag along sometimes on the Robyn tour in Sweden at that time, then it was released in 2006 in Sweden (as ”Kleerup with Robyn”) and then they wanted to include it on Robyns international release ( as ”Robyn with Kleerup) , and it went all the way to Number 1 in the U.K (and other countries as well) , It really touches me that so many people have so nice things to say , and also that it Still continues to do it’s job and Make people Feel ♥️♥️♥️
