Nazis 1994
Roger Taylor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They're saying now it never happened
They're saying now it never happened
They're saying now it never happened
They're saying now it never happened

We gotta stop these stinking Nazis

And they say that it didn't happen
What the Nazis did to the Jews
If they think they've a second coming
Then we got different news

We gotta stop these stinking Nazis

They say now it didn't happen
They say now it didn't happen
They say now it didn't happen
They say now it didn't happen

We gotta stop these stinking Nazis

What the world needs is more Nazis
Like it needs a hole in the head
Your future is not safe at all
'Til this disease is dead

We gotta stop these stinking Nazis

They're saying now it never happened
They're saying now it never happened
They're saying now it never happened
They're saying now it never happened

We gotta stop these stinking Nazis
Yeah!

Overall Meaning

In Roger Taylor's song "Nazis 1994," the lyrics address the controversy surrounding the Holocaust and the denial of its occurrence by some individuals. The phrase "they're saying now it never happened" is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the singer's disbelief and frustration towards those who deny the atrocities committed by the Nazis. The repetition of this phrase may also suggest a sense of desperation to call attention to the issue and prevent its repetition in the future.

The lines "What the world needs is more Nazis/Like it needs a hole in the head" highlight the absurdity of supporting a group responsible for one of the greatest evils in modern history. The chorus, "We gotta stop these stinking Nazis," implores listeners to take action against any form of extremism that threatens to harm innocent people.

Overall, "Nazis 1994" is a bold statement against hate and intolerance. The lyrics remind us of the dangers of denialism and the importance of acknowledging and condemning past atrocities in order to prevent their repetition in the present.

This song is so intense. And the visuals match up perfectly. Oh my gosh. I love that he’s so passionate about this!

@Sammeep02

I don't think any member of another band went solo to protest against the Nazis

@xalimon67

Dear, it was and will be so when the law does not rule.
A marginal aggressive minority, with the connivance of the authorities, will always fly up above the responsible "burgher".
So, revolution is being made)))

Thank you, Roger, for reminding us of a terrible time in human history. We can continue to rise above.

I bought this single before it was banned...love the song. 20 odd years old and still brilliant

??? Was it banned? Why?
I have the album, thank God.

@ecampbell2711

It was first banned by radio stations thinking it was too controversial and would upset people...then music stores followed in that and thought it best to ban selling it. It was weird really but apparently it boosted album sales as people wanted the song

@micknordstrom2591

Ok, thanks for info :)

@michelle88960

It was ridiculous. He is singing about the worst atrocity to happen in the 20th century. As he says in the song, 'they say that it didn't happen'. But isn't banning it making out that it didn't happen? Shielding kids from seeing this horrific part of history. We should never forget those people murdered by the Nazis. And banning this song is doing just that.

@ShindlerReal

@@michelle88960 The irony is a bit lost on you and possibly Roger. If you replace words Jews and Nazis in this song it would sound like a Triumph of the Will remake.
