1) ROME is a Luxembourgish neofolk act founded in late 2005 as the main output for the songs of Jerome Reuter and was joined by co-producer Patrick Damiani as official member in early 2008. ROME signed to the Swedish label CMI in 2006 to release an EP titled "Berlin" (June 2006) and the albums "Nera" (November 2006), "Confessions d'un voleur d'ames" (April 2007), "Masse Mensch Material" (March 2008). In 2009 ROME got signed to the german label Trisol and released the EP "To Die Among Strangers" (May 2009) and the album "Flowers From Exile" (June 2009).
In their earlier work ROME mixes influences of Industrial and Neofolk with Experimental and Electronic Pop. The traditions of (French) Chanson and (American) Folk are becoming more and more influential in their current work. In 2009 violin player Nikos Mavridis officially joined the band to further contribute to the creation of their unique sound, which they themselves refer to as Chanson Noir. Nikos left the band in late 2010 to answer the army's call and Patrick found himself more and more tied up in the work for his own professional recording studio in Germany. ROME released the EP "L'assassin" in early 2010, shortly before going into hiatus, followed by the full length "Nos chants perdus". In 2011, Jerome, the project's only real flag-bearer, recorded and released the trilogy "Die Aesthetik Der Herrschaftsfreiheit" (Trisol) and has taken up touring again with his new band mates Patrick Kleinbauer, Eric Emmel and Tom Luciani. ROME's lyrics often deal with anarchism and are demanding freedom and equal rights for all people on earth.

Rome Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've come here to tame
the demands of the flesh
I've come to forget my name
we all thought that the moon
should be turned to blood
and that its the worst thing
to want for one who comes not
but theres nothing left than to obey
all of their laws of wealth
always fighting on both sides
no denial, no denial
master, I serve you
and I serve the language
of failure and doubt
I've come to sell you my anguish
we all thought that the moon
should be turned to blood
turned to blood
and that its the worst thing
to try to please and please not
but theres nothing left than to obey
all of their laws of wealth
always fighting on both sides
no denial, no denial
yes, theres nothing left than to obey
all of their laws of wealth
master, are you taking sides?
no denial, no denial
and it feels like spring again
we've sealed this feel again
though you tried to blind me
I still saw you blush
it feels like spring again
we've sealed this feel again
though you tried to blind me
though you tried to blind me
we do not pause, we do not rest
so do not speak, please do not test
my nerve like this, in a season like this
we do not pause, we do not rest
so do not speak, please do not test
my nerve like this, in a season like this
you tried to blind me
you tried to blind me...
The opening lines of Rome's song A Legacy of Unrest, "Master, I praise you / I've come here to tame / the demands of the flesh / I've come to forget my name," speak to the idea of submission to a higher power or authority. The singer is putting themselves in a position of servitude, attempting to control their base impulses and desires in order to achieve some greater purpose or goal. This can be interpreted in any number of ways, from religious devotion to political ideology or personal growth.
The repeated refrain "we all thought that the moon / should be turned to blood" is an interesting one. It could be interpreted literally or metaphorically - perhaps as a call for revolution or violent change, or as a symbol for the destruction or transformation of the natural world. The singer seems to be acknowledging that this desire is seen as extreme or dangerous by some, but they are willing to pursue it regardless.
The final lines of the song, "you tried to blind me / we do not pause, we do not rest / so do not speak, please do not test / my nerve like this, in a season like this," suggest a sense of defiance or resilience in the face of adversity. The singer feels as though they have been challenged or threatened, but they are determined to keep moving forward and working towards their goals.
