"Incident at Neshabur" is a gem. It is incredible how this piece goes unnoticed for listeners other than hard-nosed Santana fans.

@Kevin Bayes That's debatable, friend......surely a very good track

@Rob Matia it’s beyond rock and roll.
This is a unique creation that will sing forever through the universe.
If I have to be, I’ll be glad to be the only one who truly appreciates it.
Englishman.

Got it
But it’s more than music

Probably the finest piece of rock/jazz music ever written and performed. It's tight, lucid, lyrical, instrumental, percussive, elaborate, simple, evocative, creative all at the same time. Every instrument is separate yet they all come together like some rock orchestra. No one instrument is dominant (except maybe the guitar which is the thread which sews it all together), and in the background is a persistent latin percussion. And then it ends with a pure mellow tie-up. Genius.

This is the essence of early Santana.......hard driving Latin influence with jazz underpinning. Listened to this sone a million times. Even after 47 years, it's still as fresh as when it was released.

I feel the same way. Been playing guitar for 57 years and I could listen to that song over and over again. I can play it I can even get the feedback, but there is no way I could ever sound like that man's soul which is exactly what comes through his guitar. The man is amazing. It's nice to read a comment from someone who feels that same way.
