Sarah McLachlan Lyrics

I'm not frightened anymore.
It's my heart that pounds beneath my flesh.
It's my mouth that pushes out this breath
And if I shed a tear I won't cage it.
I won't fear love
And if I feel a rage I won't deny it.
Companion to our demons
They will dance and we will play.
With chairs candles and clothes
Making darkness in the day.
It will be easy to look in or out
Upstream or down
Without a thought
And if I shed a tear I won't cage it.
I won't fear love
And if I feel a rage I won't deny it.
I won't fear love.
Peace in the struggle to find peace.
Comfort on the way to comfort
And if I shed a tear I won't cage it.
I won't fear love
And if I feel a rage I won't deny it
I won't fear love.
I won't fear love.
I won't fear love
The lyrics of Sarah McLachlan's song "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy/Possession" speak about the singer trying to overcome fear and embrace love, even when it comes with intense emotions like tears and rage. The beginning of the song gives the impression that the singer has come to a point where they no longer fear anything, but their heart is still racing with emotion. It's as if they are inviting vulnerability and expressing a willingness to feel what needs to be felt, even if it's painful or uncomfortable.
In the second part of the song, the lyrics take on a deeper meaning. McLachlan introduces the idea of accepting one's "demons" and the act of "making darkness in the day." It's almost as if the singer is stating that in the midst of their struggles, they will find a way to bring light into the dark. They will face their fears and find a way to dance with them, rather than running away from them. The final lines bring together the idea of embracing emotion, finding peace and comfort in the midst of chaos, and never fearing love.
Overall, the lyrics to "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy/Possession" convey a sense of vulnerability and bravery in the face of intense emotions. McLachlan seems to be urging listeners to embrace their "demons" and find comfort and peace in the midst of life's struggles, without ever fearing love or the emotions that come with it.
