Blind Confusion
Scott Weiland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Now summer's come and gone
The nights, they seem so long
Erase the time of our erosion
Now these days nothing's built to last
We're treading water fast
I'd rather float on mild explosion

And the rain, rain, rain
(I will remember)
Yeah, we talk about rain, rain, rain
(The still December)
Starts to wash it away, pain, pain
(With all you rendered cold)
Erase the summer of our corrosion

We told her that you loved her
We told her that you know
We told her that you loved her
Blind confusion

We told her that you loved her
We told her that you know
We told her that you loved her
Mild explosion

You blasted through the walls
The shattered mirror saw
The tick and tock of your explosion
I see the red lights coming fast
I know that sound too well
I hope it ends your vile illusions

And the rain, rain, rain
(I will remember)
Yeah, we talk about rain, rain, rain
(The still December)
Starts to wash it away, pain, pain
(With all you rendered cold)
Erase the summer of our corrosion

Rain, rain, rain
(Your will is shaken)
Yeah we talk about rain, rain, rain
(You wake and pray for)
Starts to wash it away, pain, pain
(The time when you were young)
Erase the summer of our delusions

We told her that you loved her
We told her that you know
We told her that you loved her
Blind confusion

We told her that you loved her
We told her that you know
We told her that you loved her
Mild explosion

The nights have been too long
Your wine's a bit too strong
To while away your mass confusion
Her eyes are way too strong
The shades are dark enough
[Incomprehensible]

We told her that you loved her
We told her that you know
We told her that you loved her
Blind confusion

We told her that you loved her
We told her that you know

We told her that you loved her
Mild explosion

Overall Meaning

In Scott Weiland's song Blind Confusion, the lyrics reflect on the fleeting nature of life and relationships. The opening verse sets the tone with references to the passing of summer and the erasure of time, indicating a sense of regret and nostalgia. The chorus is a mix of vivid imagery of rain washing away pain and an invocation to erase the memories of summers past that were corroded over time. The repetition of "we told her that you loved her" adds a sense of urgency to the song, as if it is too late to repair broken relationships.

The second verse continues the sense of urgency with references to "vile illusions" and "shattered mirrors," alluding to the idea that the singer is struggling with something that may be traumatic or deeply psychological. The use of "tick and tock" highlights the passage of time and the anxiety that comes with feeling like it's slipping away. The final verse introduces new characters, but the message remains the same: there's a sense of regret and a longing to undo past mistakes.

Overall, the lyrics of Blind Confusion are a contemplative reflection on the impermanence of things and the desire to hold onto what little we have.

My new fav Scott Weiland song! If they released this as a single it would be successful cause it kinda has that The Killer's sound to it.
