Derided by critics early in his career, Weiland was known for his flamboyant and chaotic onstage persona; he was also known for constantly changing his appearance and vocal style, for his use of a megaphone in concerts for vocal effect, and for his battles with substance abuse. Now widely viewed as a talented and versatile vocalist, Weiland has been ranked in the Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists by Hit Parader (No. 57).
In 2012, Weiland formed the backing band The Wildabouts. The band received mixed reviews, and some critics and fans noted Weiland's failing health. In December 2015, Weiland died of an accidental drug overdose on his tour bus in Minnesota at the age of 48. Upon his death, many critics and peers offered re-evaluations of Weiland's life and career; those critics included David Fricke of Rolling Stone and Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, who identified Weiland as one of the "voices of the generation" alongside Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley.

Tangle With Your Mind
Scott Weiland Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Getting lost in the shuffle of alibis
Seasons change, so do you, so do I
Where do I go?
Looking back on indiscretion
Love reaction, I want action
Trying hard not to let you go, oh so cold
'Cause you just never let it show
There you go wandering along, wandering along
People come and people go
Where do you go when you're not at home?
There is always more than meets the eye
Flew so fast, fell from the sky below
No, no, no
Trying hard not to let you go, oh so cold
'Cause you just never let it show
There you go wandering along, wandering along
I can read your face, you might have noticed
No, no, no
I can tangle with your mind
You never let it show
I can read your face, you might have noticed
No, no, no
I can tangle with your mind, with your mind
You seem sad but you're telling me lies
Getting lost in the shuffle of alibis
No, no, no
Trying hard not to let you go, oh so cold
'Cause you just never let it show
There you go wandering along, wandering along
I can read your face, you might have noticed
No, no, no
I can tangle with your mind
You never let it show
I can read your face, you might have noticed
No, no, no
I can tangle with your mind, with your mind
Oh, with your mind
The song "Tangle With Your Mind" by Scott Weiland seems to be about a relationship that is not working. The singer is trying to understand his partner's emotions and behavior, but it seems like she is always hiding something from him. The opening lines suggest that the partner might be sad or upset, but she is denying it by telling lies. She is lost in a web of alibis and excuses. The singer keeps wondering how he can reach out to her and find out what's really going on, but he's not sure where to start. He feels like he's constantly chasing her and that they are both changing with the passing of time.
The chorus features a repetitive "no, no, no" that underlines a sense of frustration and helplessness. The singer is trying his best not to let the relationship go, but he feels like his partner is always distant and unresponsive. She never shows her true feelings, and she keeps wandering along without giving him any sign of what she wants. The bridge suggests that there is more beneath the surface than what meets the eye. The partner might be struggling with something that she cannot express or confront, and the singer is trying to read her face and untangle her mind.
Overall, the song portrays a picture of a relationship that is struggling under the weight of unspoken emotions and unclear intentions. The singer is trying his best to understand his partner and connect with her, but he's facing a constant struggle to break through her defenses and reach her heart.
