The Girls of Nihilism
Screaming Mechanical Brain Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You only worship me because you know I'll never love you back
My black heart on the screen becomes pornography
Arousing blind obsession climaxing with full blown delusion
The girls of nihilism love watching me drown (watch me drown)
They're waiting for the day I'll drag them along
The girls of nihilism love watching me drown (watch me drown)
They can dig their own graves
My descent into hell, enchanting spectacle
We've never even met yet in your head we'll never be apart
Is this your fantasy? The perfect tragedy?
Or just another way out of an endless mediocrity?
The girls of nihilism love watching me drown (watch me drown)
They're waiting for the day I'll drag them along
The girls of nihilism love watching me drown (watch me drown)
They're waiting for the day I'll drag them along
They can dig their own graves
They can dig their own graves
Just keep on dreaming, searching for meaning
Waiting for love from me
I'm an illusion, amalgamation
Of all the things you want to see
But this black hole
Isn't big enough
For both of us
Fall into your own
The lyrics of "The Girls of Nihilism" by Screaming Mechanical Brain depict a dark and provocative message about obsession, delusion, and the human desire for sensation. The singer portrays himself as an apathetic and heartless figure who attracts adoration solely because he will not reciprocate the love of his followers. He likens his persona to pornography, suggesting that his and his fans' fixation on him is a twisted, self-destructive form of desire. The chorus draws upon the concept of nihilism, suggesting that the women who idolize him are prepared to succumb to the same self-destructive tendencies that he embodies.
The irony of the song is that despite the singer's rejection of his fans' love, he still yearns for the attention that they lavish upon him. He describes his descent into hell as an "enchanting spectacle" and acknowledges that he and his fans will never be truly separated, as they exist within the same tortured consciousness. Ultimately, the lyrics speak to the complex interplay between admiration, desire, and self-destruction, suggesting that the line between them is thin and easily crossed.

You people enjoy the first version of everything you hear better before it's done. I could release a song that's only drums with fart sounds over it and when the finished version had guitars on it: "I like the drum n fart version better, jus sayin :/".
