Against the Wall
Seether Lyrics

And run across the sun
It faded out
Like a candle in the breeze
Fadin' out
Like I'm supposed to
So everyday I'm against the wall
And if I dare to believe at all
It leaves me deflated
My mind begins to strain
And my thoughts begin to run
I've played it out
I can't seem to find the peace
I've heard about
Am I not supposed to?
So every day I could lose it all
Don't let this concern you
So will you catch me if I fall
And keep me elated
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
It's not complicated
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
And if I knew I could change it all
I'd hope that you waited
(Can't be broken down)
If I knew I could change it all
I'd hope that you waited
(Can't be broken down)
Can't be broken down
Can't be broken down
Can't be broken down
Can't be broken down
The lyrics of Seether's song Against the Wall speak of the feeling of being lost and helpless, with nowhere to turn to. The songwriter portrays himself as someone who was born to fly away and run across the sun, but his dreams and hopes collapse like a candle in the breeze. He's fading away, like he's supposed to, questioning his purpose and existence.
In the chorus, he reveals his daily struggle of being against the wall, with no solutions to his problems. He dares to believe but often ends up deflated, with a mind full of thoughts and a burning desire to find peace. He asks whether he's not supposed to find it, as he sounds almost lost in the maze of his thoughts. He could lose everything every day and asks his listener if they will catch him and keep him elated. It's not complicated. If he knew he could change it all, he hopes that they waited.
Overall, Against the Wall is a song that speaks to people who often feel like they are stuck, lost or helpless. The lyrics try to evoke a sense of relatability and empathy amongst the listeners, highlighting how life can be frustrating and confusing. The songwriter asks for help and support, which are sometimes the things that people need the most when they feel cornered.

@Jason Duval hello Jason.. I do hope this message meets you with the joy and peace intended.
I am still in a state of grief as I now watch my Mom lay hopelessly still and silent. It's her time, her turn too be going into the darkness end of life. She has stage 4 cancer. We still hear Dhaun sing this song but through a different lens of reality.
It now sets me free of guilt and agonizing pain of the death of my father who I miss every day. I am sharing my thought's on how we are born following how we all die one day. We will each have our time. The most perfect time of our lives. The day we are born, the day we die. Life is so perfectly presious.
Thank you Seether for this wildly simple beautiful song to touch our hearts. I pray each of us has a lifetime to fill ourselves with love and peace.
RIP daddy. Mom, thank you for giving me this life. God bless us all in harmony and respect for one another.
Thank you Shaun for the beauty of knowing that we are here for a short moment. All with complete and profound respect due. I hope to one day be honored with an opportunity to hear you song this song in person.

I was listening to this song with tears falling down my face. I was told my daddy died. If I had 5 more minutes with him I would have played him this song. Possibly we could have let go of our hurt from the past that pulled us apart. Thank you Seether for such a beautiful song. This will always remind me of my daddy.
