Few bands have had such an important influence on the Venezuelan rock music movement as Sentimiento Muerto; It was the first band with a group of hardcore followers (groupies), the first to have a coherent approach both musically and image and marketing. Typical disagreements and differences of style and direction that would take the band, coupled with the lack of support from their label, led to the split of the band.
Pablo Dagnino began a solo career in 1996 and early 2000 the group Pixel; Wincho went to study in the United States, on his return has participated as bassist in other groups (including Sur Carabela); Cayayo, Sebastián Araujo and Héctor Castillo formed the band Dermis Tatú, recording an album in Argentina. Cayayo Troconis, one of the most revered guitarists in Venezuela, died on November 17, 1999, shortly after turning 31, of respiratory failure.

El Pendulo
Sentimiento Muerto Lyrics

fue su propia decisión
evadirse de mi afecto
y todo lo que era yo
Sin...
sin ninguna precaución
convertido en un toro.
Ella estaba fascinada
de que no la perdonara
no podría excusar a su propio rival (bis)
De...
de ambos lados un rival
inconforme como un péndulo
en la espera de un final
Fue...
fue también mi decisión.
alejarme de su afecto.
y todo lo que era yo.
Ella estaba fascinada
de que no la perdonara
no podría excusar
a su propio rival
Ella estaba fascinada
de que no la perdonara
no podría excusar a su propio rival.
no podría excusar a su propio rival.
no podría excusar a su propio rival.
no podría excusar
su parte animal
The lyrics of Sentimiento Muerto's song "El Pendulo" describe a tumultuous relationship between two individuals who have become rivals. The song portrays a sense of regret and mutual blame between the two parties involved.
The first verse suggests that the singer made the decision to distance themselves from the other person, potentially out of self-preservation. They feel that the other person evaded their affection and disregarded their identity. The use of the metaphor of a bull in the arena symbolizes a confrontational and treacherous situation.
The second verse reveals that the other person also made the decision to separate themselves from the singer's affection. This mutual decision suggests that both parties recognized the toxic nature of their relationship. The repetition of the phrase "no podría excusar a su propio rival" emphasizes the inability to forgive or justify their own actions towards each other.
The chorus repeats the line "ella estaba fascinada de que no la perdonara," indicating that the other person was fascinated by the fact that the singer would not forgive them. This fascination could stem from a desire for power or control in the relationship. The final line "no podría excusar su parte animal" suggests that both individuals acknowledge a certain degree of animalistic behavior within themselves, possibly alluding to their instinctual and uncontrollable emotions.
Overall, "El Pendulo" explores the dynamics of a relationship gone sour, characterized by mutual blame, regret, and an inability to find forgiveness.
