Age of Glory
Serenity Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Raging for respect - new king - noble hearted
Still there's more I am longing for
Eastern world at war - conquest - invasion
So shall it be
Prepare for fight of dawn
I see for blood
Fade away
Close teary eyes
End of my life
So we rise and fall
The empire's vast
It will not last - The Great Age Of Glory
No remorse and no sympathy
For the Persian crowd
The kingdom will fall
Babylon - it will rise today
Now the eye of the world
Dark times are close
The edge of time
Approaching without mercy
On a humble man
I'm falling into sleep
Fade away
Close teary eyes
End of my life
So we rise and fall
The empire's vast
It will not last - The Great Age Of Glory
So desperate to leave
Your soul full of crimes
There's no way to believe
What you came to take - I will not cry
Hands of the gods, they will take care
Of you and your men
Relief in the east - a new king reborn
A new world has come
My heart is at stake - for what is torn apart
Fade away
Close teary eyes
End of my life
So we rise and fall
The empire's vast
It will not last - The Great Age Of Glory
Fade away
Close teary eyes
End of my life
So we rise and fall
The empire's vast
It will not last - The Great Age Of Glory
The lyrics to Serenity's song Age of Glory discuss the idea of war and conquest, particularly in the context of ancient empires. The singer reflects on his personal journey, admitting that he never thought he could kill a man, but now finds himself fighting for respect and power. Despite his success, he still longs for something more, and sees the Eastern world at war with itself, fighting for conquest and invasion.
The song also touches on the fleeting nature of glory and empire. The singer acknowledges that the vast empire may rise and fall, and that the great age of glory will not last forever. It's a reminder that even the most powerful societies can crumble, and that there is no guarantee of lasting success.
The lyrics are haunting and introspective, and provide a nuanced look at the nature of war and power. The references to ancient empires like Babylon and the Persian kingdom lend a historical weight to the song, and add to its overall sense of gravity.
