Shankar currently studies with Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia in Mumbai, India. After graduating from New England Conservatory, he was awarded a grant by the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund to pursue his study of applying Hindustani music to the clarinet. While in India, he has performed at major venues in Mumbai, Chennai, and Pune, as well as the Taj Hotel in Hyderabad.
Shankar’s experience with classical western music includes performances in Boston at Symphony Hall, City Hall, and Jordan Hall, and the Fine Arts Center at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. At New England Conservatory, Shankar studied with Tom Martin of the Boston Symphony, sitarist Peter Row and percussionist Jerry Leake. While in school, both of Shankar’s ensembles, a classical woodwind quintet and an Indian Fusion group, were awarded “honors” status by the Conservatory, a recognition of excellence given to only a few groups each year.
Shankar has toured with the spiritual leader and renowned humanitarian “Amma” Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, performing with her bhajan ensemble in 12 major cities across the US, including Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Washington DC, Boston, Toronto, and New York City. While on tour with Amma, he had the opportunity to perform with David Balakrishnan of the Turtle Island String Quartet and study with saxophonist George Brooks. Shankar recorded an album of his fusion compositions entitled Uplift, which was premiered on Amma’s 2009 US tour. Through benefit concerts and sales of the CD, he raised several thousand dollars, which was put towards a charity helping farmers in Southern India.

Kab haath mein tera haath nahi
Sad shukr ki apni raaton mein
Ab hijr ki koi raat nahi
Maidaan-e-wafa darbaar nahi
Yaan naam-o-nasab ki poochh kahaan
Aashiq to kisi ka naam nahi
Gar baazi ishq ki baazi hai
Jo chaahe laga do darr kaisa
Jo jeet gaye to kya kehna
Haare bhi to baazi maat nahi.

The above lyrics are from the song "Yaad" by Shankar Tucker. The song starts with a melancholic tone as the first two lines describe the absence of the loved one. The singer is reminiscing about a past love, and now that the person is not with them anymore, their hands are empty, and they don't feel the same kind of happiness they used to. However, in the next line, the singer expresses gratitude towards the memories they have shared with their loved one. Even though they are not together anymore, the singer cherishes the time they spent with each other.
The next two lines suggest that the singer has given up on finding love again. The "maidaan-e-wafa," which translates to the field of loyalty, is a metaphor for love, and the singer claims that there is no loyalty anymore. The next line, "yaan naam-o-nasab ki poochh kahaan," translates to "here, where does the question of lineage and name arise?" which means the singer is not concerned about the societal expectations of finding a partner from a specific culture or family background. In the following line, the singer claims that they are not in love with someone's name or status but genuinely love the person regardless of who they are.
The last two lines of the verse talk about the power of love. The singer suggests that the love game is entirely unpredictable and says that one should not fear losing in love. The last line translates to "Even the defeated in love have not lost the game."
Overall, Yaad is a song about lost love and the memories that the singer holds onto. The song talks about moving on from the lost love and not being afraid to love again.

Aashiq to kisi ka naam nahi
A lover has no name of their own
Kuchh ishq kisi ki zaat nahi.

Gar baazi ishq ki baazi hai
If love is a game, then
Jo chaahe laga do darr kaisa
What is there to fear, let it be
Jo jeet gaye to kya kehna

Haare bhi to baazi maat nahi.
Even if we lose, it's not the end
