Chad Petree and Jeremy Dawson grew up in Oklahoma and were involved in previous music projects together, including the soundtrack for the videogame Grand Theft Auto III in 2000 and Cloud2Ground. After relocating to Los Angeles, California in 2004, the two recruited vocalist Carah Faye Charnow and drummer Mikey Martin.
Their debut album, We Are Pilots was originally released in January 2005, though versions of the album featuring different cover art and tracklisting would be released later the following year. Three singles were issued: "Le Disko", "You Are the One" and "Rainy Monday". We Are Pilots received a Grammy Award nomination on 6 December 2007 in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album, but lost to The Chemical Brothers.
The band's second studio album, Season of Poison, was released on 4th November 2008, with Sisely Treasure as vocalist. They have released two singles from their second album: "Ghost Town" and "Ricochet!".
In 2009, Shiny Toy Guns released "Major Tom", a Peter Schilling cover.
In 2011, Carah Faye Charnow returned to Shiny Toy Guns. In addition, Daniel Johansson also joined the band on guitar, synth and bass. In March 2011, the band released a new single "The Sun", available to download for free.
In May 2012 the band announced that Daniel Johansson left the band.

Shiny Toy Guns Lyrics

Where I'm gonna have you
Shell shock, fall back
Anyone I see through.
Watch your head spin
Like a mesocyclone
Bouncing off the walls
Now there's nowhere to run
Like a bullet, meant to be shot
You're the target
Dead on the spot
When I focus, I never miss
It starts with a kiss
[Chorus: x2]
She ricochets
And you don't notice.
She's in your head
And you just don't notice.
Let the sweat fall
Find me in the back stall
Let it snow down
Now we're gonna deck halls
I hit the bulls eye
Making all the boys cry
I hit the main line
Breaking through the night sky
Like a bullet, meant to be shot
You're the target
Dead on the spot
When I focus, I never miss
It starts with a kiss
[Chorus]
The lyrics of Shiny Toy Guns' "Ricochet!" seem to be about a woman who is seductive yet deadly, luring in her targets with a kiss before striking them down. The singer seems to have fallen victim to her charms as well, noting how she's "in your head" and "you just don't notice." The imagery of a mesocyclone, a type of rotating thunderstorm, and bouncing off walls adds to the sense of chaos and danger surrounding this woman.
The chorus repeats the word "ricochet," which refers to a bullet bouncing off surfaces and changing direction unexpectedly. Perhaps the woman is named Ricochet, or perhaps the singer is comparing her to a bullet in her ability to move quickly and unpredictably. The bridge of the song takes a darker turn, with mentions of sweat, back stalls, and breaking through the night sky. It's unclear what is happening in these lines, but it seems to involve the singer and Ricochet engaging in some kind of illicit activity.
Overall, "Ricochet!" is a song that explores themes of danger, seduction, and unpredictability. The lyrics suggest that Ricochet is a force to be reckoned with, someone who can easily manipulate those around her for her own gain. The singer has fallen under her spell, but it's clear that this is a dangerous game to be playing.

This is the first song I've ever heard from this band and I'm not really in the know when it comes to who replaced who or what the band sounded like before. All I know is that this song rocks hard and this Sisely gal has a great voice.
