Sizzla, along with reggae recording artists such as Capleton, Buju Banton, and Anthony B, are credited with leading a movement toward a re-embracement of Rastafarian values in contemporary reggae music by recording material which is concerned primarily with spirituality, social consciousness, explores common themes, such as Babylon's corrupting influence, the disenfranchisement of ghetto youth, oppression of the black nation and Sizzla's abiding faith in Jah and resistance against perceived agents of oppression. Sizzla has over 40 full completed albums sold in record stores to date, the most popular which have been "Black Woman & Child" and "Da Real Thing" on the Digital B label, "Praise Ye Jah" on Xterminator, and "Rise to the Occasion" on Greensleeves.
Recently, however, he has come under fire for the homophobic content of many of his lyrics, and the advocacy of violence against gays.

Whatsoever just where I am is where you really wanna be
Would be a pleasure to take you out
All those lonely places you've being telling me about
Hey girl it really doesn't matter to me
Whatsoever just where I am is where you really wanna be
Would be a pleasure to take you out
All those lonely places you've being telling me about(1)
Never let the get you down a your time now
Mother for the nation naw bow
And you must have to make it some how
Not about me, it's not about you
And for you there's allot of good things I do
Surely a mans duty to make you fine
Always support you now that's just kind
Money or money not everything nice
Makes me happy just to see you ride
Right by your side rather day or night
Especially the young militant weh yo like(Repeat )(2)
Nothing is wrong with a little bit a excitement
Work for what you want so you a take life yea
Happy every time in a yard out a road
Work retire naw work wid the crowd
Every little girl wanna be a star
Let no one stop you from be who you are
One life to live so you make the best
Today is now, tomorrow is not yet(Repeat )
In Sizzla's "Be Free," he sings to a girl telling her that it doesn't matter where he is because that's where she wants to be. He offers to take her to all the places she's been describing as lonely. He then encourages her to keep her head up and not let anyone get her down because now is her time to shine as a mother for the nation who must make it somehow. Sizzla tells her that it's not about him, but rather about the good things he can do for her. He sees it as his duty to make her fine and support her, whether he has money or not because for him, seeing her ride is enough to make him happy. He wants to be by her side day or night, especially when she's with the young militant she likes. Sizzla ends the song telling her that nothing is wrong with a little bit of excitement and that she should work for what she wants and not let anyone stop her from being who she is. He emphasizes that everyone has only one life to live, so it's best to live it to the fullest and not let tomorrow worry you.
Sizzla's "Be Free" talks about love, support, and encouragement. The song reminds us that even though life can be difficult, we should never forget to live in the moment and embrace every opportunity that comes our way.
