Southside has long been considered the Grandfather of "the New Jersey Sound." Jon bon Jovi has acknowledged Southside as "his reason for singing." In 1982 the Rolling Stone Magazine voted the album Hearts of Stone among the top 100 albums of the 70's and 80's. In 1987, Southside and the Jukes were featured in the film Adventures in Babysitting performing at a college frat party.
Since 2001 Southside Johnny and the Jukes have toured the UK and Europe as an annual event, their first since the 1992 Better Days tour. His most recent album is Grapefruit Moon: The Songs Of Tom Waits (2008).

But I don't want to go home
I am in no hurry baby time can wait
I don't want to go home
Listen to the man sing his song
I don't want to go home
I don't mind baby to stay all night long
Cause I don't want to go home
Listen baby
I know we had to try
To reach up and touch the sky baby
What ever happened to you and I
That I don't want to go home
Look at all the people staying
Saying I don't want to go home
In the night
I don't want to go home
I know the words to the song I feel
I don't want to go home
I know it's talking about the way I feel
I don't want to go home
Listen baby
I know we had to try
To reach up and touch the sky baby
What ever happened to you and I
That I don't want to go home
I want to hear people laughing and having a good time
I want to know why she told me she had to go
Why did she leave me lonely
I know it's time to go
But I don't want to go home
You don't play the blues soft and low
Cause I don't want to go home
Listen baby
I know we had to try
To reach up and touch the sky baby
What ever happened to you and I
That I don't want to go home
"I Don't Want To Go Home" by Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes is a classic rock and roll song that captures the spirit of a night out that doesn't want to end. The lyrics convey the sentiment of not wanting to leave a good time behind to return to the mundane, as illustrated in lines like "I don't mind baby to stay all night long, 'cause I don't want to go home."
The song seems to describe a night filled with fun, music, and people, but also alludes to a relationship that has gone sour, as the singer wonders "what ever happened to you and I." Despite the fleeting happiness of the night, the pain of a broken heart is still present. The upbeat tune and energetic horns make this track perfect for dancing and letting loose, but the lyrics give some depth to the emotions behind the party.
Overall, "I Don't Want To Go Home" is a song about the joy of living in the present and finding happiness even when things are not perfect. It's a rock and roll anthem that speaks to the human desire to find meaning in life and to hold onto moments of bliss for as long as possible.

Love those Asbury Jukes. Unfortunately, they were so underrated at the time and never achieved the same celebrity as Bruce or others. They definitely deserved more attention than they received. Great work.
