1) Speech Patterns is a punk rock band from Australia, formed in 2012.
With influences such as Lungs, Propagandhi and A Wilhelm Scream, Speech Patterns have produced a sound that is sure to leave you picking up your jaw by the end of an intense, melodic and excitable live show.
Following their independently released self-titled 7” vinyl in 2014 Speech Patterns Played shows relentlessly with local and international bands such as Luca Brasi, Title Fight, Propogahndi, A Wilhelm Scream, The Smith Street Band and The Menzingers.
After slowing down in late 2015 with an indefinite hiatus, Speech Patterns have returned with a fresh lineup that has once again sparked their passion to play for their own blend of fast melodic punk. Following the release of CROSSWATER in May, 2017 is turning into a big year for the four Tasmanians with a full-length record in the works as well as a return to touring.

Didn't Need a Reason
Speech Patterns Lyrics

I never liked pretending, but you had me believing from the start
Feels like you left me out so you could let them in
Feels like you didn't need a reason
To stab me in the back again
None of this makes any sense
Reality keeps stepping in
I pray this won't come back again
Phase me out of the picture
Feels like you left me out so you could let them in
...But when I fall asleep I think of you, not of your twisted game for two
And every time I blink I know it's true... there's nothing I can do...
Feels like you left me out so you could let them in
Feels like you left me out so you could let yourself in
Feels like you didn't need a reason
To stab me in the back again
None of this makes any sense
Those words it's clear you didn't mean them
Reality keeps stepping in
I pray this won't come back again
Phase me out of the picture
Feels like you left me out so you could let them in
You needed something, you needed something more
Get out of my head, out of my head
Infectious things you said
You needed something, you needed something more
Feels like you didn't need a reason
To stab me in the back again
None of this makes any sense
Those words it's clear you didn't mean them
Reality keeps stepping in
I pray this won't come back again
Phase me out of the picture
Feels like you left me out so you could let them in
The lyrics of Speech Patterns' song Didn't Need a Reason portray complex emotions of hurt and betrayal from someone the singer trusted. The song opens with the singer expressing the emptiness they feel and questioning if there is anything left for them. It becomes clear that this emptiness is a result of the person they trusted who had them believing in what they thought was a genuine relationship. However, it is later revealed that the person had ulterior motives and only kept the singer around to gain access to their circle of friends. The singer questions why they were pushed out and left in the dark. The line "Feels like you left me out so you could let them in" further shows how the betrayal extended to bringing in the singer's friends into this twisted situation.
The chorus expresses the singer's pain and confusion as they try to make sense of the situation. They question the meaning behind the person's actions and the words they used. The singer prays that they are not subjected to such pain and betrayal again. The bridge reveals that the hurt caused by this person still lingers, despite the singer wanting to move on. Even as they fall asleep, they are plagued with thoughts of this person and the "twisted game for two."
Overall, the song highlights the impact of betrayal and how the pain can linger long after the relationship has ended.

This vocalist is unreal. He can go smooth and compete with any Top 40 artist you hear nowadays, and yet at the same time manages to do a complete 180 and sound like he’s tearing his throat out. Unbelievable.

Eva Louis thank you so much! ❤️
