På pallen
Stein Torleif Bjella Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
og syng ein nysjølskriven trall.
Om det innerste i livet mitt
på handelens dag i ditt distrikt.
Ein full fyr står å ser på
klamra seg te dama.
Han si at no må eg snart sjå
å spela Sweet Home Alabama.
Hjølpelaus når det røyne på.
Eg har sett uppgang og stygge fall
frå store høgdi og frå ein pall.
Som gamalt lauv i vind
som papirbåt på svarte fjordn
kjempa eg med musikken min
og havarera i soln.
Progresjonen er kje stor.
Eg er glad du ikkje ser meg mor.
I skallen svirra store ord og ting
eg alder burde ha gjort.
Takk te mor og far for at eg fins.
Dei brukte å kalle meg for prins.
Då var eg ein kjekk og frampå russ.
No gjer eg folk nervøs og i stuss.
Det er visst noko med augun.
Dei klara alder å roe seg.
Det smitta over på publikum.
Ein prins ville alder gjort det.
Progresjonen er kje stor.
Eg er glad du ikkje ser meg mor.
I skallen svirra store ord og ting
eg alder burde ha gjort.
Eg kryssa kyrkjegarden i dag.
Gudsforlatt, men i godt slag.
Ingen flagga på halv stong.
Berre ein snøggtur denne gong.
The lyrics to Stein Torleif Bjella's song "På pallen" depict the internal struggle and emotional turmoil of the singer while sitting on an unstable European pallet and singing a newly written tune. The singer reflects on the intricacies of his life, which he shares with the people in attendance at the local fair. The song's mood is somber and contemplative, with the singer acknowledging that he has seen both success and failure in his life, but he continues to fight with his music. The song's final stanza is a reflection of the singer's thoughts as he crosses the graveyard, feeling alone and abandoned but strangely content.
The song's lyrics are full of vivid imagery and metaphors, portraying the singer's life experiences as being akin to sitting on an unstable pallet. The pallet represents the instability and insecurity that the singer feels toward his music and personal life. The line "Ein full fyr står å ser på, klamra seg te dama" (A drunk guy is looking at me, clinging to his woman) showcases how the singer is aware of his audience's apathy or indifference towards his performance. The last stanza with its somber tone depicts the finality of life and the singer's acceptance of his current situation.
