(2) Steve Lacy (July 23, 1934 – June 4, 2004), born Steven Norman Lackritz in New York City, was an American jazz saxophonist and composer recognized as one of the important players of soprano saxophone. Coming to prominence in the 1950s as a progressive dixieland musician, Lacy went on to a long and prolific career. He worked extensively in experimental jazz and to a lesser extent in free improvisation, but Lacy's music was typically melodic and tightly structured. Lacy also became a highly distinctive composer, with compositions often built out of little more than a single questioning phrase, repeated several times.
After Lacy was diagnosed with cancer in August 2003, he continued playing and teaching until weeks before his death on June 4, 2004 at the age of 69.

With you all night
Under the stars
Until it is bright
They're playin' the music that we love
Just can't get enough of you, you, you
I wanna dance
Under the stars
Until it is bright
They're playin' the music that we love
Just can't get enough of you, you, you
The lyrics of Steve Lacy's song Jars of It talk about the deep desire to dance with someone under the stars all night long. The song seems to capture the pure joy and excitement of being with someone you truly love, and the music just fuels that passion. The opening line, "I wanna dance with you all night," is a declaration of deep affection while the repetition of "under the stars until it is bright" emphasizes the idea of an endless night with infinite possibilities together.
The phrase "they're playin' the music that we love" refers to the fact that they're in tune with each other and share a love for the same kind of music. The repetitive use of "you, you, you" at the end of the line indicates the singer's affection for the person they want to dance with. Overall, the lyrics are a celebration of love and intimacy and showcase Steve Lacy's knack for making simple phrases poetic and memorable.
