(And can you tell me where I've been?)
Never stopped, knew I should've run but now I
(Don't remember where I am)
All my life I've been holding back
Consider this my last request
(I never paid for all my sins)
Open up your arms and save my life
I know I'll never go home again
I need a little more, I will take what I can get
I promise you everything, everything
Just don't forget me in the end
Right in front of my face
(And in between the little voice)
This was something I couldn't have
(That just made me want it more)
Now I know the reason I was built like this,
Now I know why I am here
(I'm here for you)
Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up your arms and save my life
I know I'll never go home again
I need a little more, I will take what I can get
I promise you everything, everything
Just don't forget me in the end
Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up your arms and save my life
I know I'll never go home again
I need a little more, I will take what I can get
I promise you everything, everything
Just don't forget me in the end
Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up your arms and save my life
The lyrics of Stone Sour's song "Pieces" express a sense of uncertainty and desperation, as the singer questions their past, present, and future. The song begins with the singer asking if someone can tell them how far they've come and where they've been, indicating a feeling of disorientation and confusion. Despite this, the singer seems to have a sense of urgency to move forward, acknowledging that they should have run but can't remember where they are now. The chorus repeats the plea to "open up the sun and burn my eyes" and "open up your arms and save my life," suggesting a desire for both destruction and salvation.
The second verse shifts focus to the singer's desire for something they can't have, which only makes them want it more. However, they reflect on their own purpose and why they were built the way they are, ultimately realizing that they are here for someone else. The chorus repeats again, emphasizing the desperate need for something more and a willingness to take what they can get.
Overall, the lyrics of "Pieces" convey a sense of longing, uncertainty, and desperation, as the singer grapples with their past and present while also seeking something more meaningful in their future.
