Stone Sour Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can you tell me how far I've come?
(And can you tell me where I've been?)
Never stopped, knew I should've run but now I
(Don't remember where I am)
All my life I've been holding back
Consider this my last request
(I never paid for all my sins)
Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up your arms and save my life
I know I'll never go home again
I need a little more, I will take what I can get
I promise you everything, everything
Just don't forget me in the end

Right in front of my face
(And in between the little voice)
This was something I couldn't have
(That just made me want it more)
Now I know the reason I was built like this,
Now I know why I am here
(I'm here for you)

Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up your arms and save my life
I know I'll never go home again
I need a little more, I will take what I can get
I promise you everything, everything
Just don't forget me in the end

Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up your arms and save my life
I know I'll never go home again
I need a little more, I will take what I can get
I promise you everything, everything
Just don't forget me in the end

Open up the sun and burn my eyes

Open up the sun and burn my eyes
Open up your arms and save my life

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Stone Sour's song "Pieces" express a sense of uncertainty and desperation, as the singer questions their past, present, and future. The song begins with the singer asking if someone can tell them how far they've come and where they've been, indicating a feeling of disorientation and confusion. Despite this, the singer seems to have a sense of urgency to move forward, acknowledging that they should have run but can't remember where they are now. The chorus repeats the plea to "open up the sun and burn my eyes" and "open up your arms and save my life," suggesting a desire for both destruction and salvation.

The second verse shifts focus to the singer's desire for something they can't have, which only makes them want it more. However, they reflect on their own purpose and why they were built the way they are, ultimately realizing that they are here for someone else. The chorus repeats again, emphasizing the desperate need for something more and a willingness to take what they can get.

Overall, the lyrics of "Pieces" convey a sense of longing, uncertainty, and desperation, as the singer grapples with their past and present while also seeking something more meaningful in their future.

It's kinda weird, but this is my "happy song". I can't describe how happy this track makes me.

Adam Griffith-Smith

Every single song on this album could’ve been released as a single and there is very few albums I can say that about. An overall underrated masterpiece of an album.

Mary Caudillo

Yes exactly how I feel and have felt about this album since I heard of it years ago. It always reminds me of a specific time in my life and always takes me back there.

MrRichierich

Siamese Dream, almost every TOOL and APC with Mer de Noms and 13th steps albums lol, Dirt and every other AIC album with Layne, Hybrid Theory, Highly Suspects 1st 3 were pretty fkn good man I could keep going once I start thinking full play through albums lol👍👍🤙

Easily the best album they have ever put out. Such a masterpiece. So many beautiful songs on one album is unheard of these days.

Mary Caudillo

It's a damn shame he feels it was a disappointment because it's absolutely one of the best and I don't feel that way about all of their albums. Can't say I liked Hydrograd that shit blew big time.

@Adam Griffith-Smith It's because the label refused to let them go in the direction they wanted to go in. They wanted a Nickelback album and that's essentially what they got. By far and large their worst album in my opinion.

Adam Griffith-Smith

christian almli That tends to happen a lot with artists, they hate their best work. God knows why.
