Redshift
Submethod Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Are you more than distance?
I'm afraid to understand
Measured love from how far
I can take a master plan

Now tell me what it's worth
To care for anyone at all
Red is not the light of truth for me
But its all I've every wanted

It's sad when indifference makes us wet
No burning-just watch your own
All I've ever known-contempt-
Its all I've ever known

I yeild in spite of all I've said
It's all contrived and useless
Because nothing outside means a thing
It only eats me hollow
In search of something, anything
That I can pretend to relate to

Behind the mask it's one big headtrip
Choose your face and promises

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Submethod's song Redshift speak of the complexities of love and relationships, and how distance can affect them. The singer is grappling with the idea of whether someone's worth in a relationship is determined by the miles between them. They feel uncertain about how to measure love, and have become almost afraid to understand it. The idea of a master plan suggests that the singer has been calculating and strategic in their approach to love, perhaps out of fear of getting hurt.

The singer then questions the value of caring for others. They seem to be struggling with a sense of disillusionment, and are no longer sure what is true or real. The color red, which is often associated with passion and love, has lost its meaning for the singer. It's all they've ever wanted, but it no longer holds any truth in their eyes. The song suggests that indifference and contempt have taken over, and that the singer is feeling hollow and disconnected from the world. They continue to search for something to hold onto, but are left feeling alone and isolated.

Overall, Redshift is a song about the complexities of love and relationships, and how distance and mistrust can affect them. The singer is struggling to find meaning in a world that feels empty and disconnected, and is searching for something to hold onto.

Christian band?

Although I couldn’t say for 100% positive, I feel confident in saying that the answer to your question is no. The singer would probably describe himself as “spiritual” but for sure none of them claimed christianity at the time they were playing. I still speak with Nathan sometimes about his current projects you should check them out. 🤘🏻
