As a touring act, Tame Impala consists of Parker (guitar, vocals), Dominic Simper (guitar, synthesiser), Jay Watson (synthesiser, vocals, guitar), Cam Avery (bass guitar, vocals), and Julien Barbagallo (drums, vocals). Many of the band members, including Parker, are collaborators with fellow Australian psychedelic rock band Pond. Previously signed to Modular Recordings, Tame Impala is now signed to Interscope Records in the US and Fiction Records in the UK.

Parker originally conceived the project in Perth in 2007. After a series of singles and EPs, Tame Impala's debut studio album, InnerSpeaker, was released in 2010; it was certified gold in Australia and well received by critics. Parker's 2012 follow-up, Lonerism, was also acclaimed, reaching platinum status in Australia and receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. Tame Impala's third album, Currents, was released in July 2015,[6] and like its predecessor, it won ARIA Awards for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year. Parker won the APRA Award for Song of the Year 2016 for Currents' first track, "Let It Happen". The fourth and most recent studio album, The Slow Rush, was released 14 February 2020.

I am new to Tame Impala. Im 49, and my 15 year old daughter wanted to go to his concert for her 16th bday! This was the only thing she wanted, even though I asked her to ask for anything even to travel away. I looked him up and they were on tour. The concert was going to be in less than a week, near us! I surprised her with tickets on the Monday before the concert (Saturday)! She cried of happiness. I was so happy to see her happy! So before the concert I wanted to show her I knew about him and his songs, and I began to listen to his songs those 5 days before the concert. I got hypnotized by his music and this was the song that did it! During the concert as they were playing one of their last song, they played this one and my two daughters immediately shook my arm and screamed at me saying: “Mom your favorite song”! This was the most amazing concert I have ever been and seen! Now I am listening to his songs every day and crank the volume in my car every morning on my way to work! Love all their music!

Breath-taking! I am a dentist in an office where we play the patient's favorite music on Spotify during their appointment. I heard this song the other day during treatment and I literally stopped my handpiece (drill), took off my gloves, went to the computer to see what song was playing, wrote it down on a scratch sheet of paper and put it in my pocket to play later. I finished the rest of my day and started playing one of their playlists that evening. I was impressed. But it wasn't until the next day when I went back to the scratch sheet of paper to read the words "New Person, Same old Mistakes" did I not fully appreciate what I was dealing with. As I sit here writing this comment, please know that I am familiar with music. Piano lessons as a child, woodwinds in the school band, music production at home as a hobby now in my 41st year of life as of May 16th. But I have never heard anything like this. This was the most amazing experience musically I have ever had. I feel like I had an adrenaline rush that lasted the entire song. I am a fan for life. I am going to replay this and try to figure out what just happened to my life!
