Two Sparrows In A Hurricane
Tanya Tucker Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's fifteen and he's barely driving a car
She's got his ring and he's got the keys to her heart
It's just a matter of time
They'll spread their wings and fly

Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything
They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it
Love says they will

There's a baby crying and one more on the way
There's a wolf at the door
With a big stack of bills they can't pay
The clouds are dark and the wind is high
But they can see the other side

Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything
They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it
Love says they will

She's eighty-three and he's barely driving a car
She's got his ring and he's got the keys to her heart
It's just a matter of time
They'll spread their wings and fly

Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything
They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel

The world says they'll never make it
Love says they will

Yesterday was the six month anniversary of my husband, Rob's passing. I sat in his recliner, feeling utterly bereft. No tears, just a hollow feeling in my heart. I had a country station playing on the radio, my dogs snuggled in my lap. I said a quiet prayer, then closed my eyes. A song came on...my eyes flew open. This station does NOT play Tanya Tucker, yet there she was, singing how love never dies. It was THIS one!
Tanya Tucker was one of Rob's favorite country gals! He had a whole CD collection of her music.
I listened, a smile grew on my face. The rest of the day passed peacefully. Thank you, Lord...for Rob, for music and for Your timing. ❀

Ever since I was a little girl this song reminded of my grandparents and their unconditional love they had for each other. 47 years they were married before my grandpa passed in 2001, 20 years later he called his wife home to heaven to be with him on August 9th of this year. If I could wish for one thing in this world it would be to have a love like theirs

I know this was made some years ago but as I sit here writing and listening I feel it's as beautiful as the first time.

I married my junior high school sweetheart 20 years ago today, and this was our wedding song. None of our friends or family, most now deceased- including both sets of our parents, had ever imagined when we met by chance in October 1994 that we'd grow to be best friends, and eventually, inseparable. I stood by his side proudly as he became a successful mechanic, and in turn, he became my rock as I pursued writing, teaching, medicine, and becoming an EMT. We presently have 9 beautiful children that I homeschool and are expecting our last February 2022. "The world said we'd never make it.... love said we will."
