She Loves You Ya Ya
The Beatles Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

You think you've lost your love
Well, I saw her yesterday
It's you she's thinking of
And she told me what to say

She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad

She said you hurt her so
She almost lost her mind
But now she says she knows
You're not the hurting kind

She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad
Ooh!

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
And with a love like that
You know you should be glad

You know it's up to you
I think it's only fair
Pride can hurt you too
Apologize to her

Because she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
She loves you
And you know you should be glad
Ooh!

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
With a love like that
You know you should be glad

With a love like that
You know you should be glad
With a love like that
You know you should be glad

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Overall Meaning

The Beatles' song "She Loves You" is a classic love song that emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and the healing power of love. The song itself is in the point of view of someone who is talking to a friend who is down about having lost his love. The singer consoles his friend by telling him that his love is thinking of him and that she loves him. The song goes on to say that the love interest had been hurt by the singer's friend, but she forgave him and now she wants to be with him again because she loves him. The main message of this song is that love can conquer all, even after mistakes have been made, and forgiveness is key in any relationship.

One interesting aspect of this song is that it was originally written as "She Loves You-Yeah-Yeah" but John Lennon changed the title at the last minute because he felt that "yeah, yeah, yeah" had a better ring to it. Another interesting fact is that "She Loves You" was The Beatles' third number-one single in the UK, and it held the position for six weeks. The song was also a huge success in the US, where it reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was eventually inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008, solidifying its status as a classic song.

Another interesting tidbit about the song is that it was actually inspired by a conversation John Lennon had with his wife Cynthia while they were on tour. Cynthia revealed that she had overheard a conversation where her friend's husband had been unfaithful to her, and John came up with the chorus "She Loves You" as a way to console her. The rest of the lyrics were written in part by Paul McCartney, and the song was recorded in July 1963, with George Martin serving as producer.

Overall, the song's message and catchy tune are what have helped make it a classic in pop music history. The Beatles were able to capture the essence of young love and forgiveness in this song, which has resonated with listeners for generations.

Wow, an actual live performance of "She Loves You" from 1963. Incredible. Their collar-less jackets, fantastic audio and they're all so young. It's nearly impossible to believe this actually happened and that it wasn't all just a dream.

They all sound so much younger, Paul especially. He sounds like a 16-year-old.

Man when these guys were on they were ON.

I don't know what happened that caused music to be the way it is today, but I would much rather have the Beatles than say Weeknd or Eminem. They're more vintage, yet they have a better, more authentic sound than most artists do today. Just goes to show that you don't need midi instruments and drum machines to make a good song.

John Nicol

Disagree. Today's music has way more depth and substance to it.

My Mum told me this was one of the first 7.5 inch/45 rpm records that her Dad bought her (Mum must have been 17 when this record was released). Mum also had the privilege of seeing The Beatles in concert before they were famous. So I always think of Mum and her Dad when I hear this song. This rendition is fabulous (Before I forget!).
