TBG have released five full length albums: Learn Yourself, We're Already Gone, Ziggurats, Spooks and Dancehall Days; as well as one EP, Morning Sun, TBG have an eclectic style of their own, with smatterings of rock, acoustic, reggae, pop and folk all through their music. Many people find elements of artists such as Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and The Police, but their most recent album Spooks has, among others, Bob Marley influences.
TBG have been nominated for Best Music Video: I Thought About You, at the Inside Film Awards 2007; Best Blues & Roots Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 2005
And for the J Award 2005
They have also made it into the Triple J Hottest 100 four times: twice in 2003 at #41 ("Blackbird") and #62 ("Music") and twice again in 2005 at #68 ("...And We'll Dance on the Ashes of What's Left") and #81 ("Let's Take the Long Way Home").

I Thought About You
The Beautiful Girls Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Look at the stars up in the sky
Thought of the wishes I had made
Then started, thinking about all the time we had left
Was counting out my mistakes
And counting out my regrets
About you, Thought about me
Thought about you, Thought about me
Thought about all the things we'd never be
Thought about you
I thought about you
Well I woke up in the pouring rain
My pockets empty and a voice runnin' round in my brain
It started, soundin' a lot like the devil himself
Sayin 'No-one gets to heaven if they don't go through hell.'
Would you, Think about me?
Think about all the things we'd ever be
Now tell me would you, Think about me?
Think about all the things we'd never be
So tell me would you
So tell me would you
I thought about you, I thought about me x6
(I thought I'd mean something to me,
I thought I'd mean something to you) x3
Well I was walking back home real late
Look at the stars up in the sky
Thought of the wishes I had made
Then started thinking about all the time we had left
Was counting all my mistakes and all my regrets
About you, thought about me
Thought about all the things we'd ever be
Thought about you, thought about me
Thought about all the things we'd never be
Thought about you
I thought I'd mean something to me
I thought I'd mean something to you
I thought about you.
The song "I Thought About You" by The Beautiful Girls is a reflection on lost love and regret. The verses detail a late night walk where the singer is consumed by thoughts of a past relationship. The first verse sees the singer counting their regrets and mistakes, while the second verse features an internal dialogue with a voice that sounds like the devil. The chorus repeats the phrase "Thought about you" with a sense of longing and sadness. The bridge features the singer questioning if their past love still thinks about them and if they ever truly meant anything to each other.
The song captures the feeling of looking back on a failed relationship and the regret that comes with it. The singer is contemplating what could have been while recognizing that their time has passed. The song's introspective lyrics are accompanied by acoustic guitar and gentle percussion, creating a sense of intimacy and reflection.
