Sir Your Fashion Has The Cold Heart of a Killer
The Beautiful Girls Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
i scream into the night, that same old fear gripping me tight. i tried calling but a man picked up the phone. he said that nobody was home and could i please leave him alone. back in this ghost town and i'm just trying to get by. trying to escape these dreams that just will not stop chasing me down. i look for you almost every night. see, since you've gone away i don't have strength in me to stay.
dear sir your fashion, it has the cold heart,
of a killer.
and all our reasons they keep going somewhere.
the devil to one side of me seems to believe in killing me.
let's make it through tonight and then we need to make it right. how would we both feel if one of us soon were gone? see, i'm not sure the risk is any longer really worth it. in the meantime let's just not use the phone. no more emergency calls. please, no more sirens anymore.
dear sir your fashion, it has the cold heart,
of a killer.
so we wait.
we wait.
no control.
no reason.
The Beautiful Girls's song, "Sir Your Fashion Has the Cold Heart of a Killer," is a melancholic ballad with a powerful undertone of sadness and desperation. The song seems to be about a man who is trying to reconnect with his lost love and return home. The lyrics indicate that the singer has been trying to call but is unable to reach his lover. He is back in his "ghost town" and struggling to deal with the memories of his past. The dream sequences he faces every night are a clear indication of his inability to move on from the relationship.
The singer is seemingly fearful of something; maybe it is the fear of losing his lover forever. As the lyrics read, "all our reasons, they keep going somewhere, the devil to one side of me seems to believe in killing me." The singer refers to the cold-hearted killer, Sir, who seems to represent his fears of losing his lover, which he describes as a personification of their cold fashion. He acknowledges the risk of living without a loved one and seems to be in dilemma if the risk is worth it. The lyrics reveal a sense of lost control and helplessness that life throws at him, and there is no apparent reason for it.
The song's overall mood is one of sadness and desolation, yet it seems to offer a sign of hope for its listeners. The singer's sense of loneliness and yearning for his lover is evident and resonates with the listeners. It is a touching and heartfelt song that speaks to the universal human emotions of love, loss, and the inability to move on.
