They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

Single Successful Guy

Stumbling down the street
Dialing the telephone
Up all night, up all morning
Right here is my home
But I know I don't even have to try
I’m a single successful guy
And lonely with my favorite girl
Lonely when I’m all alone if you're gonna talk I gotta listen
Because right here is my home
It’s easy I don't have to try
I’m a single successful guy
My ears are ringing loud
But I can't hear a sound
I'm carrying all I own and my heart is heavy in my chest
Right here is my home
It’s easy, I don't have to try
I’m a single successful guy
Single successful guy
Single successful guy
The Bouncing Souls' song Single Successful Guy, is an ode to the freedom and independence that comes with being single, as well as the sometimes-lonely reality that comes with it. The song opens with the singer "beating down doors, stumbling down the street, and dialing the telephone" in what seems to be a frenzied search for something. However, he ultimately comes to the conclusion that despite any struggles or loneliness, he is content with his life as a single person.
The second verse delves deeper into the singer's feelings of isolation, stating that even when surrounded by friends or his "favorite girl", he is still lonely. He explains that if someone wants to talk to him, he has to listen, further highlighting his loneliness and seeming isolation even in the presence of others.
The chorus of the song, "I'm a single successful guy", is repeated after each verse, almost as a mantra or affirmation that being single is a positive thing, despite any difficulties or set-backs. The lyrics "my ears are ringing loud, but I can't hear a sound" and "I'm carrying all I own and my heart is heavy in my chest" emphasize the weight and burden of living life as a single person, but also the strength and resilience needed to navigate it.
Overall, Single Successful Guy is a catchy and upbeat song that celebrates the ups and downs of being single, and the freedom and independence that comes with it.
