The band released their Swedish Grammi-winning debut album "Supershitty to the Max!" in 1996. Just before a tour opening for Kiss, the band recruited keyboardist and percussionist Anders Lindström (also known as Boba Fett or Boba) on a part-time basis; he would become a full-time member in 1999. After the album "Payin' the Dues" in 1998, Dregen left the band to return to Backyard Babies full-time, and Mattias Hellberg and Danne Andersson were recruited to complete the band's touring responsibilities. After the release of "Grande Rock", which featured additional guitar playing from both Lindström and Hellberg, Robert Dahlqvist was hired as a full-time lead guitarist in 1999. With the lineup now solidified, the band released three more studio albums and a cover album, with many EPs and limited-edition releases as well. The Hellacopters disbanded amicably in 2008 so the members could move on to other projects. Eight years later, the band reassembled in 2016, initially for an exclusive performance at Sweden Rock Festival to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of their award-winning debut album "Supershitty to the Max!".
In October 2021, the band announced that they had signed with the record label Nuclear Blast to release a new album in the spring of 2022. The album, "Eyes of Oblivion", was released on April 1, 2022.

Go Easy Now
The Hellacopters Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We played our parts not very well
So it has come to an end
We wanted blessings and we got 'em
But there's no sequel
No part three for us to attend
So cut us some slack now would you
We can't be taking it back so could you
Go easy now on your own
It's getting close it's drawing nearer
It's coming down hard
But it's not like it's a big surprise
And as I look at myself in the mirror
It's too late
To say I'm sorry to apologize
So cut us some slack now would you
We can't be taking it back so could you
Go easy now on your own
Go easy now on your own
Take me down to my maker
Hands put together and on bending knees
Is there a way that I can break
Or alter this low down deal
So cut us some slack now would you
We can't be taking it back so could you
Go easy now on your own
Go easy now on your own
The lyrics of The Hellacopters’ song “Go Easy Now” contain themes of regret, acceptance, and the consequences of our actions. The first verse speaks about how the singer and those around them have failed in some way, and how it has lead to the end. They had wanted blessings, likely some form of success or recognition, but now it seems like there will be no continuation of their story. The chorus then speaks to the idea that, because the end has come, it’s time to be kinder to ourselves and to take it easy on our own expectations moving forward.
The second verse continues with the consequences of the aforementioned failure. The storm is coming and it appears as though things are about to get rough. The singer looks at themselves in the mirror and realizes that it’s too late to take any kind of corrective action. The last verse continues with the consequences, as the singer speaks about going down to meet their maker and hoping for some kind of mercy. Again, they ask for understanding and an easing of expectations as they move forward.
Overall, the lyrics of “Go Easy Now” are poignant and reflective, with a focus on the idea that we are all human and we all make mistakes. It speaks to the idea that it’s important to be kind to ourselves and to others, especially in times of difficulty and regret.
