In 2001 the song Take the Long Road and Walk It circulated as a demo, before being released by Fierce Panda. The band were quickly signed by EMI/Virgin imprint, Hut, who released their first EP You Might as Well Try to Fuck Me.
In 2002, following another EP, The People, they released their eponymous debut album.
In Autumn 2004, they released their second album, Welcome to the North, and the accompanying single Freedom Fighters, before touring with Incubus. One of the singles from the album, Breakin', became a hit on American rock radio.
Their eagerly awaited third album entitled Strength in Numbers was released in June 2008. However, in September 2010, singer/songwriter Robert Harvey confirmed the group's intention to split, and on 31 March 2011 the band announced a series of farewell shows in Japan and the UK.

Victim
The Music Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I can't seem to understand it
All the dreams that I chase
I can't seem to put my hand on
All the poison that you speak
Running through me like a river
So you keep talking in your sleep
I am a victim you are the vanquished
I am a victim you are the vanquished
I keep roaring
You keep chasing
I am a victim you are the vanquished
If I feel nothing
Then why is my heart on my sleeve?
I work for money
It goes out faster than it comes
You call this living?
To me it's just about getting by
I'll take my chances
If you don't know, come ask me why
Well you've been talking in your sleep
I can't seem to understand it
All the dreams that I chase
I can't seem to put my hand on
I am a victim you are the vanquished
I am a victim you are the vanquished
I keep roaring
You keep chasing
I am a victim you are the vanquished
If I feel nothing
Then why is my heart on my sleeve?
I work for money
It goes out faster than it comes
You call this living?
To me it's just about getting by
I'll take my chances
If you don't know, come ask me why
(I can't seem to understand it)
Is that why is my heart on my sleeve?
I work for money
It goes out faster than it comes
You call this living?
To me it's just about getting by
I'll take my chances
If you don't know, come ask me why
If I feel nothing
Then why is my heart on my sleeve?
I work for money
It goes out faster than it comes
You call this living?
To me it's just about getting by
I'll take my chances
You work all your life then you die
The Music's song "Victim" is a reflection of the frustrations of modern-day existence. The opening lines suggest that communication between two people has broken down as one person keeps "talking in their sleep," and the other cannot understand what they are saying. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for societal communication breaking down, with people unable to understand one another. The following lines describe the futility of chasing dreams, with the singer feeling like they cannot seem to "put their hand on" their goals. All the while, the "poison" in the form of negativity and frustration around them affects them like a "river."
The chorus, "I am the victim; you are the vanquished," illustrates a power dynamic where one person feels defeated, while the other is victorious. The following lines suggest that the singer is trapped in a cycle of struggling to make ends meet - "I work for money; it goes out faster than it comes." They question whether this is what it means to be alive and take their chances, ultimately accepting that life is about "getting by" until the end.
The song's lyrics tap into the frustration felt by many in modern society, where the struggle to survive overshadows the pursuit of one's dreams. The contradictory nature of the hook's lyrics, "I am a victim; you are the vanquished," creates an unsettling feeling, suggesting that society is no longer a fair and equal playing field. Overall, the song is a reflection of a generation struggling to feel fulfilled in a world that seems to offer little return for their efforts.

The best B-side in my opinion... why they decided to keep "Vision" and "Cold Blooded" on the album over this excellent track is beyond me.

Between being a broke college student and being all the way in the US (where SiN never was released), I can only afford to get the albums of this great band. The work is much appreciated. Also, I love the lyrics are great. I've read in a few reviews that their lyrics are "weak", but I can't help but disagree. The whole part with "If I feel nothing...." is truly great.
