Watching the sun set on my anger
Apparently my feelings
Hold no significant ground
Is this friendship only on demand
When you're broken you take my hand
I'll try to forget
A desire to fogive is overshadowed
My angry side consumes my mind
Why don't I ever learn to cast my cares
On the one who gives me strength
Seems I always get burned
Neglecting the things that are most important
A friend who will always hold my hand
A friend who will always help me stand
But I still forget
I try to hide under selfish pride
A desire to forgive is overshadowed
My angry side consumes my mind
The Undecided's song "Forgotten" is a ballad about feeling betrayed and forgotten by a friend. The song opens with the singer alone, watching the sun set on their anger. They feel like their feelings hold no weight and their friendship is only on demand. However, when the friend is in need, they still turn to the singer for help. The singer is torn between their anger and their desire to forgive. They try to hide under their pride, but ultimately their angry side consumes their mind. The chorus repeats the idea of forgetting, whether it be forgetting the friend or forgetting to rely on God for support.
The song's message highlights the importance of forgiveness and relying on God for strength. The singer recognizes that they often neglect the things that are most important, like their friendship and their faith. The song's structure, with its slow tempo and emotional delivery, adds to the feeling of being forgotten and the weight of the singer's internal struggle. The use of imagery, like the setting sun, further emphasizes the melancholic tone of the song.
