June Haverly
Troye Sivan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

June Haverly, you always get your way
But, June Haverly, not today no not today
You're on top of the world
Just trying to stay on track
And they'll kiss your feet
While they stab your back
And watch your star it burn to blaze and cry
June Haverly, you always got your way
But not today
No not today
No not today
June Haverly, you're not to blame
No not to blame
And, June Haverly don't be ashamed
For all the pain
You're on top of the world
Just trying to stay on track
And they'll kiss your feet
While they stab your back
And watch your star it burn to blaze and cry
June Haverly
We miss you so
Why'd you go
Oh Why'd you go
You're on top of the world
Just trying to stay on track
And they'll kiss your feet
While they stab your back
And watch your star it burn to blaze and cry
June Haverly
We miss you so

Why'd you go
Oh why'd you go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Troye Sivan's June Haverly seem to be addressing a character named June Haverly who is very successful and seems to always get her way. However, today she won't be able to get her way, and she's on top of the world just trying to stay on track. The lyrics suggest that people do not have her best interest at heart and will kiss her feet while stabbing her in the back. The line "And watch your star it burn to blaze and cry" implies that the people around her are enjoying watching her suffer after experiencing such immense success.

The chorus seems to express a level of forgiveness toward June Haverly, acknowledging that she's not to blame for whatever is happening to her. It encourages her to not be ashamed of the pain she's experiencing. The line "June Haverly, we miss you so why'd you go?" gives the impression that something has happened to her, although the song doesn't expand on what that might be.

Overall, the song paints a picture of someone who has experienced great success and is now facing some sort of downfall, possibly due to betrayal by those around her. The lyrics are emotive and give the impression that the singer feels both empathy and sorrow for the character of June Haverly.

I am obsessed with this song. It's so meaningful, the story is beautiful. It's a song that talks about the dark side of being a celebrity... it's one of my favourite songs to sing, and while I could never be as good as Troye (sad face) I made a cover (if you want to check that out c:).

I honestly don't understand the dislikes on this. The fact that this is the first song Troye wrote... wow. This song now means a lot to me and made me tear up the first time I heard it. You're incredibly talented and to put it simply, an incredible person. Troye, thank you for writing this.

Songs like this are what I use as proof to tell haters that Troye deserves every bit of success he's had. I mean, this is a masterpiece.

I fucking love you for this. I loved you anyway, but you're just so creative and inspirational. I'm sure you didn't make this song for yourself, but in memory of those amazing artists and people who died so young. Yet still this song shows how much of a wonderful person you are. God, I love you so much
