The two main influences on the band are the Beatles and Black Sabbath, and keyboardist Josh Silver has expressed a love of Pink Floyd--evidence of which can be heard in the atmospherics of his production techniques.
The band arose from the ashes of the band Carnivore and gained popularity with their songs "Black No. 1" and "Christian Woman" from the Bloody Kisses album. The album was the first in Roadrunner Records' catalog to go both gold and platinum. They have successfully toured with Pantera, Life of Agony, and dozens of other established and up-and-coming bands, as well as taking part in Ozzfest. The band had VHS and DVD documentary releases in addition to their CD releases and contributions to movie soundtracks and compilations.
Steele died of sepsis caused by diverticulitis (initially reported as heart failure) on April 14 2010 at the age of 48.

I Don
Type O Negative Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Two glass houses, twenty stones
Fourteen yellow, six are blue
Could it be worse quite doubtful
Two steps forward, three steps back
Without warning, heart attack
He fell asleep in the snow
Please don't dress in black
When you're at his wake
Don't go there to mourn
But to celebrate
The lyrics of Type O Negative's song "I Don" describe the life of an individual who seems to be struggling with a lot of issues in his life. The first two lines of the lyrics talk about the person's tendency to throw stones at his own glass houses, indicating a lack of awareness or care for his own situation. The next two lines mention the colors of the stones, which differ in number, implying that life is never uniform and can be unpredictable. The lines "could it be worse quite doubtful" suggest that despite the challenges, the person believes it could still be worse.
The second set of lines in the lyrics talk about the person's sudden death. The lines, "two steps forward, three steps back, without warning, heart attack," imply that the person was either on a path to recovery or was trying to improve his life, but his efforts were not enough. He then suddenly passes away in the snow and dies alone.
The final lines of the lyrics are a plea to those who knew the individual not to mourn his death, but to celebrate his life. The lines "please don't dress in black when you're at his wake, don't go there to mourn, but to celebrate" indicate that despite the difficulties in the person's life, he lived a life worth celebrating.

Idk what's better:
-A kick-ass and insightful song..
-The sexy, talented and immortal Peter..
-That lovable fellow who clearly is not afraid to make an ass outta himself (but dances like M Jackson just a little too well)..
-That Type O as a whole is comfortable with not taking themselves too seriously and has such good humor?
-The dog watching TV with Peter..
Tough call all around..

This song is strangely comforting. It makes me feel like I'm not the only one wishing I could be someone else so I don't have to deal with everything in my life.
@geks08
@Hentai Senpai I bet not. The state of the world right now along with personal hardships is no doubt a lot to handle for just one person. I just want you to know that you shouldn't beat yourself up over a lack of motivation if you have it. Or if you're in school and haven't completed your work, it's so understandable. Your mental health matters more than work :)

It's forever eerie to hear this song. He literally died exactly as it said in the song. Pete was tapped into something in his life.
@geks08
@@oddindian1 I was thinking of that too, there was a similar happening with Freddie Mercury
@misanthropic985
That’s why they made it sweetheart
It’s about one of the roadies who passed away
@misanthropic985
@@oddindian1 yeah, except it’s not about him, it’s about a roadie who literally died in the snow.
