The band principally consists of Der Graf ("The Count") along with various musical partners. He has been accompanied for live shows with musicians Christoph "Licky" Termühlen, Henning Verlage, and Martin "Potti" Potthoff. The group's debut, 'Phosphor', came out in 2001. Their fans believe that their eclectic style features a very appealing combination of sounds, unlike a lot of bands that play a similar mix of elements, while also giving a nice depth of atmosphere. As well, Unheilg are stylistically connected to the 'dark culture' that has arisen among many of the youth.

The closer that this album gets to releasing, I start to get mixed emotions. I always welcome new music from Unheilig, and I know this will be another masterpiece, but I'm also sad that this will be their final album. I found out about Unheilig, in January of 2009. I quickly got caught up on every single album, single and EP; this music has had an amazing impact on my life, since then.

@Matthew J. Boone It all began with Ramstein. I started school speaking only German. In 1965, this was not good. The USA was still on a high from winning the war and everything Herman was Nazi. I quickly renounced my German. I tried to re learn my German but could not find a good reason to do so until German music came along. I Asked my other what she thought about Ramstein. Her response was "They are nuts! They can't be very popular! Check the German charts on line ans you will see!" Sure enough, Ramstien was not on the charts but #2 was Unheilig with Geboren um zu Leban. That was it! I was hooked. I want to personally thank Der Graf for giving me a reason to bring back my German. Interesting note: My mother also commented, long before this "He is older and wiser! He will not allow success to get to him! He will make is money and call it quits when the time is right!" Sure enough, the lyrics of Ziet zu gehen says just that. I wish him a good post superstar life. This song hints that his fame has causued marriage problems. If so, I pray that his wife appreciates what he is doing for her sake and doesnt leave him anyway.

Da kriegt man ja bei jedem Song Tränen in den Augen.Wir haben Unheilig vor einigen Jahren für uns entdeckt.Und jetzt da wir wissen dass der Graf aufhört ist es umso trauriger seine Songs zu hören.Diese Band hat mir und meiner Frau so oft durchs Leben und Trauer geholfen.Ich kann es einfach nicht glauben dass in 2 Jahren alles vorbei ist.Wir werden auf jeden Fall auf der letzten Tour und auf dem großen Abschlusskonzert in 2 Jahren dabei sein.Wir danken der gesamten Band für die tollen Jahre und die schöne und oft auch hilfreiche Musik,Ihr bleibt uns IMMER im Herzen.Und für die Zeit danach haben wir die Alben die wir dann hören wenn es mal wieder schwierig wird im Leben.Danke für die ganzen Jahre.Wir wünschen euch alles gute in der Zukunft.Und vielleicht sieht man sich ja doch mal wieder.Wie heißt das so schön???
