And It Stoned Me
Van Morrison Lyrics

Half a mile from the county fair
And the rain came pourin' down
Me and Billy standin' there
With a silver half a crown

Hands are full of a fishin' rod
And the tackle on our backs
We just stood there gettin' wet
With our backs against the fence
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Hope it don't rain all day

And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me

Then the rain let up and the sun came up
And we were gettin' dry
Almost let a pick-up truck nearly pass us by
So we jumped right in and the driver grinned

And he dropped us up the road
Yeah, we looked at the swim and we jumped right in
Not to mention fishing poles

Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Let it run all over me

And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me

On the way back home we sang a song
But our throats were getting dry
Then we saw the man from across the road
With the sunshine in his eyes

Well he lived all alone in his own little home
With a great big gallon jar
There were bottles too, one for me and you
And he said Hey! There you are

Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Get it myself from the mountain stream

And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me

And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me

Love it... the tid bit stories that get told. Any each and every one, stories a person's life.

Good on you lad, good on you

In '87 in NYC playing the Beacon 3 nights, we had tickets for 2.

Our first night, the 2nd show, we rode the train an hour in from Connecticut, my girl, 3 years til my wife, had in her lap a big bouquet of Purple Heather, a most beautiful song, and in it she placed a note.

We hung out around the back on 57th St, like in St Dominics Preview we were socializing with a wino dude - bottle in a brown bag, the first night's show bootlegged playing thru a Walkman headset, telling us the night before was a continual stream of consciousness...

When up pulled a Caddy, nothing fancy, and out stepped Van, carrying a valise, I had to half nudge my girl to step forward (a sweet young woman with a child in her eyes)

I didn't hear what was said, I never asked, and tho we married in 3 but divorced in 12 I never knew what was on that note..

So these clips bring back a flood of memories..

Always loved this song. I never knew who Van Morrison was and had never heard this song before. One day 30 years ago or so give or take. I walk into a bar. Sitting there was an old Vietnam Vet named Joe Garvey. Complete strangers. We started a conversation about old rock and roll. Joe was kinda short on money that day, so I bought him a beer and gave him a few bucks for the jukebox. Joe walks over to the juke box and for the first time I heard And It Stoned Me. From that day on we became friends. Agent Orange took Joe years ago. Here's to you Joe.

Rusty Kuntz or all governments.... Just like the 56th battalion of the Irish regiment went in to Katanga as UN peacekeepers, peacekeepers! and were sold out by there own government. Irish just as much as Brits. Were dismissed upon coming home, never allowed to speak off it and never got any kind off recognition. For PEACEKEEPERS! Madness....
