Fool For Life
Van Velzen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Trying hard not to miss
Anything life might give
Why do I keep on runnign round
Chasing my tail, never exhaile
How come I never settle down
Will I ever rest my head
I ask of you
Chorus:
If only fools are satisfied
Take my sanity away
If only fools are satisfied
Let me be a fool
When will I ever lose this drive
I try but I never seem to win this fight
I'm like a house without a soul
The emptiness keeps me going
Maybe you can make me whole
And sooth my head
At ease, at peace and in need of nothing else
I ask of you
If only fools are satisfied
Please take my sanity away
If only fools, fools are satisfied
Let me be a fool
Chorus
...for life
In Van Velzen's song "Fool For Life," the artist is contemplating his life choices and wondering if he is on the right path. He questions whether he wants to continue living the way he currently is, always trying to keep up with the pace of life and not missing out on anything. Despite this, he still finds himself in a state of restlessness, always chasing his own tail and never settling down. The artist is searching for a sense of peace and contentment in his life that seems to continually elude him.
Throughout the song, the artist is asking for someone to guide him and help him find a sense of fulfillment. He pleads with this person to soothe his head and help him find peace, so he can live a life without constantly chasing after something that he feels he is missing. Despite the possibility of losing his sanity or being seen as a fool, he expresses a willingness to take that risk if it means he can find a sense of satisfaction in his life.
Overall, "Fool For Life" is a contemplative plea for guidance and inner peace. It is a relatable song for anyone who has ever felt restless or unsatisfied with their life, and it suggests that sometimes, we need to let go of the reins and take a chance in order to find true contentment.
