Back when this song was written, censors would block anything with reference to sex and/or drugs in it, so people started using code words. Well, then censors started hiring people to decode these messages, so The Beatles essentially wrote this to just waste their time. There is no hidden meaning, only walrus.

Their rapid evolution in musical style development was mind blowing. Aside from serious creativity, it was also a problem with record label contracts. George Martin really overloaded these guys when the success started. Towards the end, the music became so experimental... it was really hard to see where they were going, and no wonder why they eventually broke up. Mainly, Lennon & McCartney seeing different directions.

All day long all I do is play the Beatles for her. In the car, at home, 24/7. Today she asked to hear "love love love" I figured out she meant "all you need is love" and she danced around with her favorite stuffed animal and kissed her and held her. The song is beautiful, “nonsense” or “full of sense/meaning”, it doesn’t matter. The words flow seamlessly into, out of, around, and through the melody, and together they create a whole, which is so much more than the sum of its parts….a beautiful song, which gives me chills, every time I hear it, and makes me think “omg, the song is perfection, and they are (the Beatles)/he (John) is a freakin’ genius!”There will never be another like them/like him, ever…..just stunning…..so beautiful and so perfect, it takes my breath away and makes me dizzy……

My mom has an anthology DVD of The Beatles. I used to watch it all the time and I remember none of it except for I am the Walrus. I loved it as a kid. I’m middle school I heard the lyrics and it was the strangest thing ever. I didn’t know that was what I was listening to. I still love it though.

it just blows me out of this life
this composition of lennon creates such a sound field fully recieved and resonated by every bit of my soul
the unbelievable orchestral arrangement made by virtuoso george martin
combined with the surreliastic lyrics, performed so fitting with john's voice and singing style
creating this overall ethereal and absurd experience, such as life at its heights
just make this song one of the most significant events in 20th century's culture in my opinion

I’m not a huge fan of the Beatles but I absolutely love this song. My mom has an anthology DVD set about them that I used to watch a lot as a toddler and this song played and I specifically remember this more than anything else from the set.
