1. Bolivian folklore band (active since the 70s)
2. Cuban funk band based in London (active since the 00s)
1. Bolivian folklore band active since the 1970s, whose brief tenure as a hard progressive rock band, mixed with andean rythms, meant a water mark for bolivian musicians to come.
The band originally were:
Carlos Daza: Guitar
Jorge Cronembold: Drums
Pedro Sanjines: Keyboards, Piano and Synth
Nataniel Gonzáles, Dante Uzquiano: Vocals
Omar León: Bass Guitar
"El Inca", released in 1973 as their debut, is their best known and most innovative work to date. Joining masterfuly both andean structures with hard rock instrumentation, they achieved an extremely fresh sound, only similar to what their contemporaries Arco Iris and Jaivas were doing in Argentina and Chile, two countries with more prolific rock traditions. Such is the impact of this album that 35 years later it is still regarded as the best bolivian rock album ever and as a rarely fine collector's delight worlwide.
Wara has remained together ever since, while shifting some members; but briefly after recording their impressive debut (one of the latin folk - progressive rock finest fusions) they shifted their interests toward purely native music and today they still play bolivian folk as well as their own pop-folk compositions (not related at all with their prog rock debut, which they however revisit from time to time).

Lleno de esplendor y de hermosura
Ñustas bellas como el arco iris
Incas justos y valientes
No robes, no mates y no mientas
Eran ley de aquellos tiempos
Un día volverá esa justicia
Renacerá, renacerá, renacerá...
Renacerá, renacerá, renacerá...
Ahhhhhhh...
El Inca viene
Por el sendero
El Inca, ahhhh...
El Inca viene
Por el sendero
El Inca, ahhhh...
El Inca viene
Por el sendero
El Inca, ahhhh...
In "El Inca," Wara sings about the ancient Inca civilization, which was known for its prosperity, beauty, and just ruler ship. The lyrics describe the Inca Empire as a place filled with beauty, including beautiful women, Ñustas, and brave and just rulers, Incas. The song emphasizes the importance of justice in the Inca civilization, where stealing, killing, and lying were considered unlawful. The lyrics suggest that justice will one day return and put an end to all wrongdoing.
The chorus of the song is "Renacerá" which translates to "It will be reborn." This hints at the idea that the Inca civilization, though ancient and seemingly long gone, will rise again. The repetition of the phrase "El Inca viene por el sendero" further emphasizes this idea that the Inca leader will come back, leading his people to a new era of justice and prosperity. The song could be interpreted as a call to remember the values that the Inca civilization embodied and to aspire to live by them.
