Regenerate
We Came As Romans Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Regenerate, regenerate
We've returned to reclaim
On this unstable ground we're laying faces down
In a world that's sinking
Our faith is put in the stars, not in each other's hearts
In this world that's sinking
Stop living for yourself
You're just living in your own hell
To bring this back to a proper course
We will band together (stand together)
To bring this back to a place I know
We will band together
We will regroup
(Hear the voice inside you
Use the truth to guide you, now
This is our time to restore the faith)
Regenerate, we will be the change
We're searching for a cure
'Cause our world is drowning
We're quick to guard our hearts
Forget we share our scars
In this world that's drowning
Stop living for yourself
You're just living in your own hell
To bring this back to a proper course
We will band together (stand together)
To bring this back to a place I know
We will band together
We will regroup
(Hear the voice inside you
Use the truth to guide you, now
This is our time to restore the faith)
Regenerate, we will be the change
Why condemn when you can confide?
Why condemn when you can confide?
You're all just too busy picking a side
Why condemn when you can confide?
Regenerate, we will change this life
Why condemn when you can confide?
Regenerate, regenerate this life
To bring this back to a proper course
We will band together (stand together)
To bring this back to a place I know
We will band together
We will regroup
(Hear the voice inside you
Use the truth to guide you, now
This is our time to restore the faith)
Regenerate, we will be the change
Regenerate, regenerate this life
Regenerate, regenerate
We've returned to reclaim
The song "Regenerate" by We Came As Romans is a call to action for people to band together and restore faith in humanity. It begins with the line "Regenerate, regenerate this life" which is repeated throughout the song, almost acting as a mantra for the need to change and rebuild. The chorus encourages people to "stand together" and "regroup" in order to bring things "back to a proper course". The song is essentially about how the world is a sinking ship and how we should aim to work together to fix it.
The lyrics mention how people are too focused on themselves and not enough on the bigger picture. There is a call to "stop living for yourself" and to "confide" rather than "condemn" others. The idea is that we all have our own struggles and scars to bear, and that by coming together we can help ease each other's burdens. It's a message of hope that things can get better, but only if we all work together towards a common goal.
