Unfinished Business (released April 29th 2007) was their first single, released on Jack Brown's label Chess Club Records. This single was released on a vinyl 7" format only and was limited to 500 copies. Death followed next (released Sept 22nd 2007). 2) White Lies was a one piece band consisting of Haydé Walraet from Belgium. Currently known as Haydé. She had her small claim to fame with her cover of the Kaiser Chiefs' song, "Heat Dies Down" which was accepted as a heart warming cover considering Haydé had minimal live footage to work with to re-interpret it her own way.
She also covered the Little Man Tate song "You And Me Might Be Alright, You Know" which used the same technique of acoustic guitar, layered, precious vocals and simple harmonies throughout.
But she is not just a cover artist, Haydé also writes her own songs and released a demo of seven of them in the latter half of 2006. Her style is often simple and laid back with songs to calm the mind and ease you into the day. Her demo was again confronted with good press who saw her demo as a humane approach to life from the eyes of a young girl.
3) White Lies was an Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom based alternative rock band. The first years of the bands career, they were going under the name Rota. In 2004 the band released their self-titled album White Lies, having received positive reviews. Although in 2005 the band went its seperate ways, with each member having his own new band.

And leave recklessly
We can only be me
We can only be me
That's something I
Through the tons of my life
Never wanted to be
Never wanted to be
But if you stay
Just a bolt in the ball
Then you'll never know
Then you'll never know
How you could miss
Like the day light the way
You're missing us now
You're missing us now
So listen to some reason
There's nothing in your dreams
But if you're getting even
You're getting even
Trying to get even
Better start believing
I can forgive
And we can forget
Even after all this
Love and other nonsense we've made
Now if we kiss
Then the moon in the sky
We'd linger a while
We linger a while
So ask to give just an inch more of night
But you break from my life
No more kiss, no more I
But listen to some reason
There's nothing in your dreams
But if you're getting even
You're getting even
Trying to get even
Better start believing
I can forgive
And we can forget
Even after all this wrestling of conscience
I can forgive
And we can forget
Even after all this
Love and other nonsense
It's the worst part of the best of me, best of me
Love, I'm trying so hard to be free
Worst of the best of me, best of me
Love, I'm trying so hard to be free
Lonely but free
And out of love
If you're getting even
You're getting even
If you're getting even
You're getting even
If you're getting even
You're getting even
Trying to get even
Better start believing
I can forgive
And we can forget
Even after all this wrestling of conscience
I can forgive
And we can forget
Even after all this
Love and other nonsense
You're getting even
You're getting even
And I can forgive
And we can forget
You're getting even
You're getting even
And I can forgive
And we can forget
You're getting even
You're getting even
And I can forgive
And we can forget
You're getting even
You're getting even
(And I can forgive)
(And we can forget)
(You're getting even)
The lyrics of White Lies' "Getting Even" explore the idea of forgiveness and moving on from past mistakes in a relationship. The first verse talks about the fear of being alone, of only having oneself to rely on, which is something the singer never wanted. The second verse talks about the regret that comes with leaving a relationship too soon and not giving it a chance to work. The chorus encourages the person to listen to reason and forgive, even if they're trying to get revenge. The bridge repeats the line "the worst part of the best of me" which could mean the mistakes the singer has made or the parts of themselves they don't like. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus and the idea that forgiveness is possible, even after all the mistakes.
The song is musically driven by a catchy bassline and electronic drums, along with lead singer Harry McVeigh's emotive vocals. The chorus is particularly anthemic, with the line "If you're getting even, you're getting even" repeated several times. The lyrics are poignant and relatable, invoking the feeling of regret that can come with letting go of a relationship too soon.

We can only be me
We can only be me
That's something I
Through the tons of my life
Never wanted to be
Never wanted to be
If you leave without thinking, we'll be left with nothing, that's not who I've ever wished to be.
But if you stay
Just a bolt in the ball
Then you'll never know
Then you'll never know
How you could miss
Like the day light the way
You're missing us now

So listen to some reason
There's nothing in your dreams

You're getting even

We'd linger a while
We linger a while
So ask to give just an inch more of night
But you break from my life

It's the most terrible part of me that I try to hide, I need to break free from this love that holds me back. The worst part of me, despite my best efforts to be free, still clings to this love. I'm alone, but finally free from the chains of love.

So if you go

The track explores the complexities and aftermath of a troubled relationship. The lyrics suggest a sense of resignation and acceptance for the situation at hand, while also expressing feelings of longing and a desire for resolution.
In the first verse, the narrator acknowledges their reluctance to become someone they never wanted to be, possibly due to the actions or behavior of their partner. The line "we can only be me" implies a sense of self-preservation and a refusal to compromise their own identity.
The second verse delves into the consequences of staying in a stagnant relationship. The line "then you'll never know how you could miss like the daylight the way you're missing us now" suggests that by refusing to confront or address the problems in the relationship, the partner is missing out on the potential for growth and happiness.
The chorus serves as a plea for reconciliation and understanding. It suggests that if the partner can listen to reason and overcome their desire for revenge or "getting even," forgiveness and healing are possible. The mention of "all this love and other nonsense" implies that despite the ups and downs, the love shared between the two is worth fighting for.
The third verse introduces the idea of a consequential kiss, symbolizing the potential for unity and connection. However, the partner's decision to break away from the narrator's life signifies the end of that potential. This further emphasizes the sense of missed opportunities and the pain of separation.
The bridge speaks to the conflicting emotions within the narrator, describing themselves as the "worst part of the best of me." There is a struggle between love and the desire for freedom, potentially hinting at the internal battles faced in trying to salvage the relationship.
The pre-chorus and subsequent repetitions of the chorus highlight the theme of "getting even." It suggests that revenge or seeking retribution will not lead to resolution, but rather forgiveness, understanding, and a genuine attempt to fix the relationship are necessary.
The song concludes with the repeated lines "you're getting even, and I can forgive, and we can forget." Here, the narrator expresses their willingness to let go of past grievances and move forward, allowing for the possibility of healing and reconciliation.
Overall, "Getting Even" delves into the complexities of relationships, highlighting the importance of communication, forgiveness, and a shared determination to overcome obstacles. It invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences with troubled relationships and the potential for growth through empathy and understanding.

One of the best albums of 2010s, criminally underappreciated.

@DouglasSantos-bf4nm
I just think the way he says; "I can forgive And we can forget" is the most beautiful thing I've heard in a while.

That chorus... What a masterpiece... Combination of instrumental, vocals, rhythm and lyrics. Perfect
