She left Polygram in 1990, moved to São Paulo and decided to dedicate herself to a less commercial repertoire than that demanded by her former record label. She put together the show "Sobre Todas as Coisas", backed up by Marcos Suzano (percussion) and Lui Coimbra (violin-cello), with whom she toured Brazil. The show was later recorded by the label Eldorado. In 1993, "Valsa Brasileira", with its slick repertoire and expert technical back-up, was released by the label Velas and helped to put her up amongst the leading names on the MPB scene. In 1997, she recorded "Per Amore" – which was a commercial sensation, with its sales boosted by the title track. The following year, she released "Passione", an album Italian songs, only.
Esquece E Vem
Zizi Possi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Tentar crescer
Saber dizer não
Ter seu espaço
Sua opção
Tudo em vão
A gente se esquece e tudo promete
Tenta não ver
Barra pesada
Isso nunca mais
Te encontrei
Nada adianta e não tem disfarce
Pra que mentir
Diz a verdade
Tanta solidão
A quem convém
Esquece e vem
Esquece e vem
A gente quase tudo tem
Te encontrei
Nada adianta e não tem disfarce
Pra que mentir
Diz a verdade
Tanta solidão
A quem convém
Esquece e vem
A gente quase tudo tem
Esquece vem
A gente quase tudo bem
The lyrics to Zizi Possi's song Esquece E Vem speak of the complexities of relationships and the pain that can come with them. The opening lines, "Dói mais teu silêncio que tua agressão/Tentar crescer/Saber dizer não/Ter seu espaço/Sua opção/Tudo em vão" convey the idea that silence can hurt more than aggression and that it's necessary to grow and learn to say no, have your own space, and make your own choices. However, these efforts can feel pointless when promises are made and forgotten and we try to ignore the insanity of the situation. The lines "Barra pesada/Isso nunca mais/Te encontrei/Nada adianta e não tem disfarce/Pra que mentir/Diz a verdade" suggest that the difficulties and heaviness of the relationship will not continue, but the truth must be spoken instead of trying to disguise it.
The chorus "Tanta solidão/A quem convém/Esquece e vem/A gente quase tudo tem" speaks of the loneliness that can come with relationships and questions who benefits from it. The answer might be that we do, as we almost have everything we need. The phrase "Esquece e vem" is repeated throughout the song, suggesting a desire to forget about the difficulties and move forward with the relationship.
Overall, the song seems to be expressing the complicated emotions that come with relationships, especially when they are difficult or painful. It suggests that it's important to have your own voice and to speak the truth, but also to let go of the hurt and move forward with love.
