Liquid
Zoë Blade Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I wanna clone myself and start a band
The Ruthless Dragons of Another Land
I wanna break the mould of same and same
I'm never, ever getting drunk again

My latest horny outlet, everyone
My contribution to the Sunday done
No point in getting outta bed today
I'm safe, and we're a million miles away

Staring at the ceiling through the night
A blackened void enveloped in the light
Give all your money, wipe away your debt
Is this the only life I'm gonna get?

I'll change my habits, continue, break the loop
No lone hacker, come and join the group
Reevaluate and realise
I may be in the dirt, but I am aiming at the skies

Line five is missing an apostrophe
Did I choose the machine, or did it choose me?
Don't sweat the details, try to make amends
Improvement is a journey, not an end

Improvement is a journey, a beginning, not an end
Improvement is a journey, a beginning, not an end

Overall Meaning

In the lyrics to Zoë Blade's song "Liquid," the artist expresses a desire for change and breaking free from the mundane routine of life. The opening lines, "I wanna clone myself and start a band, The Ruthless Dragons of Another Land," suggest a yearning for self-expression and a departure from conformity. The idea of duplicating oneself emphasizes the need for alternative perspectives and fresh ideas.

The following line, "I wanna break the mould of same and same," highlights the artist's dissatisfaction with the repetitiveness of life and the urge to challenge societal norms. The phrase, "I'm never, ever getting drunk again," may refer metaphorically to a state of clarity and sobriety, suggesting a commitment to making conscious choices and avoiding mindless actions.

As the song progresses, the lyrics shift towards introspection and contemplation. The line, "Staring at the ceiling through the night, A blackened void enveloped in the light," portrays a sense of existential crisis, where the artist is caught in a state of emptiness and searching for meaning.

The verse, "Give all your money, wipe away your debt, Is this the only life I'm gonna get?" questions the pursuit of material possessions and financial stability as the sole purpose of existence. The artist seeks something beyond the superficial and materialistic, pondering the possibilities and limitations of life.

In the final stanza, the lyrics suggest a personal transformation and determination to break free from limitations. The lines, "I'll change my habits, continue, break the loop, No lone hacker, come and join the group, Reevaluate and realize," indicate a commitment to self-improvement, collaboration, and broadening one's perspective. The artist recognizes the challenges ahead but remains focused on reaching for higher aspirations.

Overall, "Liquid" serves as a reflective and introspective piece, exploring themes of self-discovery, rebellion against conformity, and the pursuit of personal growth and fulfillment.

@PhilipWester

I've been going mad trying to track down this song after hearing it as the outro music to several SarahZ videos. I asked in the comments but nobody answered me. I used Shazam and it gave me 3 random songs, 2 of which are classical music. Finally I managed to find a Subreddit with a bot that can identify songs and it identified your song for me. I immediately went into iTunes and bought the entire "Hello Calm" album. Finally the song that has lived rent free in my brain for months can be put onto my phone!

@HeortirtheWoodwarden

What subreddit is that?
