How can you expect the game to change
If you don't even play
How can you expect the game to change
If you don't even play

Overall Meaning

These lyrics from mind.in.a.box's song "The Game" speak to the idea that change cannot occur if one does not actively participate. The "game" can be interpreted as a metaphor for life or any situation in which one desires change. The first line asks a rhetorical question, questioning how someone can expect things to be different if they are not willing to engage and take action. It implies that change requires effort and involvement, highlighting the importance of active participation.

The repetition of the line emphasizes the message and reinforces the idea that expecting change without involvement is unrealistic. It suggests that merely observing or spectating is not enough to bring about transformation. Change requires more than just a passive hopeful mindset; it demands active engagement and participation.

By repeating the question, the lyrics imply that this is a universal truth that applies to all aspects of life. Whether it be personal growth, societal change, or making a difference in the world, the lyrics suggest that change cannot occur unless individuals actively participate and take responsibility.

Ultimately, these lyrics serve as a reminder to take initiative and be proactive. They challenge the listener to examine their own role in creating change and encourage them to step forward and actively engage in the game of life. By doing so, they suggest that true transformation is possible, but it requires active participation and a willingness to play the game.

Line by Line Meaning

If you don't even play

@FREAKE_DJ

This clip actually fits the mind.in.a.box story-line really well, because this guy looks very cyber-cowboy, which is how they described The Friend to look. If you hadn't mentioned that the clip came from something else, I would've thought it was a music video to go directly with the song.

@laurenceaholland

Exhilarating and cathartic audio visual experience.

@runnerman81

For those who are curious about the video, RUIN (2012) (dir. Wes Ball) (animated post-apocalyptic short film).

I'm glad this is still up. I understand miab is anal about their songs on YouTube but, you know, I'd like to share my music too. My facebook feed is full of people sharing all of their crappy music in YouTube format. Without videos like this, I have no response. Plus, I find it hard to believe that YouTube is a large conduit for piracy. Anyone that has patience to use a service to strip the audio from these videos could just as easily download via bittorrent or a file sharing site.

I found it nice that the lyrics "spark of hope" came at almost the exact same time that he activated the first explosive.
