"1 Thing" went to the top of the charts in various international markets, including the US, UK and others around the world. It earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (the album "Touch" was also nominated for the "Best Contemporary R&B Album" Grammy ). The album sold an estimated 800,000 copies worldwide and went gold in the US and silver in the UK.
Amerie's third album 'Because I Love It' was released in the UK , Europe and Asia in 2007. The single "Take Control" was released in October 2006, and it enjoyed international success. The second single "Gotta Work" did not fare as well in the charts, despite receiving heavy airplay on UK and European music video channels. The album has sold a combined total of 310,000 copies worldwide and is her most critically acclaimed album.
In late 2007, was reported that Amerie had left her label Columbia Records, and signed with the Island Def Jam Music Group.
Amerie revealed the album title to be changed from 'Breakups To Makeups' to 'In Love & War'. Amerie also announced that her first single off the album will be titled "Why R U?" produced by The Buchanans. The single premiered online in the week of May 11th and received fairly mixed reviews. The track itself is even compared to Mary J. Blige's "What's The 411?" and "My Life" album, because of the old school feel.
Amerie changed her artist name to Ameriie (extra I) in 2010. She said that it gave her more positive energy as an artist. She changed her artist name back to Amerie (without the extra I) with the double EP releases '4AM Mulholland' and 'After 4AM' in 2018.
Right now her main focus is on books, youtube channel and her son and husband.

Amerie Lyrics
Woo, ah, woo
Na-na-na-na-na, oh (ah-ah)
Na-na-na-na-na, oh (ah-ah)
Na-na-na-na-na, oh (ah-ah)
Na-na-na-na-na
Oh, been trying to let it go
Trying to keep my eyes closed
Trying to keep it just like before
The times we never even thought to speak
Don't wanna tell you what it is
Ooh-wee, it felt so serious
Got me thinking just too much
I wanna set it off, but
It's this one thing that got me trippin'
It's this one thing that got me trippin' (you did)
This one thing, your soul made me feel it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
It's this one thing that caught me slippin'
It's this one thing, I want to admit it (you did)
This one thing and I was so with it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
Hey, we don't know each other well
So why I keep picking up my cell?
Memories just keep ringing bells
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Hear voices I don't want to understand
My car keys are jingling in my hand
My high heels are clicking towards your door
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
It's this one thing that got me trippin'
It's this one thing that got me trippin' (you did)
This one thing, your soul made me feel it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
It's this one thing that caught me slippin'
It's this one thing, I want to admit it (you did)
This one thing and I was so with it (yeah)
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
And maybe I just can't believe it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
I can't deny, tired of trying
Nothing left to do but to keep on seeing you
I'm hoping you can keep a secret
For me, for me, for me
But what you did, yeah
It's this one thing that got me trippin'
It's this one thing that got me trippin' (you did)
This one thing, your soul made me feel it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
It's this one thing that caught me slippin'
It's this one thing, I want to admit it (you did)
This one thing and I was so with it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh (I can't help it)
Oh-oh-oh-oh (it's just something)
Oh-oh-oh (it's just)
Oh-oh-oh-oh (I don't know)
Oh-oh-oh (this thing)
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh (I don't wanna fight it)
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Na-na-na-na-na, oh
Oh
Na-na-na-na-na, oh
Na-na-na-na-na, oh
Na-na-na-na-na, oh
Oh, don't know what it is
It's this one thing that got me trippin' (hey)
It's this one thing that got me trippin' (you did)
This one thing, your soul made me feel it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
It's this one thing that caught me slippin'
It's this one thing, I want to admit it (you did)
This one thing and I was so with it (yeah)
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
It's this one thing that got me trippin'
It's this one thing that got me trippin' (you did)
This one thing, your soul made me feel it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
It's this one thing that caught me slippin'
It's this one thing, I want to admit it (you did)
This one thing and I was so with it
It's this one thing you did, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
(Oh-oh-oh)
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
(Oh-oh-oh)
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh

When this song came out, I was part of this tiny band that enjoyed playing our local club/bars. We were a VERY small band with no lofty dreams, we truly enjoyed being a 'working' band.
My band, decided as a group to cover this song like a week after it came out. ((To be fair, our drummer DEMANDED it because he loved playing that groove soooo much and we could not say no to him))
I have to say that as a band who were all hipster-y about "we DON'T do covers, man, we're better than that...durrrrr", pulling out this song no matter what type of bar/club we were at? Got EVERYONE. EVERY. ONE...out of their seats.
We got a lot more gigs after performing this song and we learned that having a few well-done cover songs? A real ace in your pocket.
If you're out there Amerie, because of YOU, a no-name band got to enjoy their 20's being a 'working band' and it was the happiest times of our collective lives.
Thank you, Amerie.

Las elecciones cinematográficas y artísticas son brillantes. Referencias culturales europeas realmente interesantes. Ojalá la cultura europea se representara más a menudo tan bellamente. No puedo dejar de decir "oh, esto es hermoso" a lo largo del video. Luz, en serio... el que se encargue de la iluminación, genial..

Danielle Preyar
She changed the r&b game with this song. So many artists wanted a piece of that go-go hip hop sound. She deserves so much more recognition for her music contributions ❤
Fey Fev
@Danielle Preyar Harrison is from DC hence why you hear the GoGo sound
Quang Tran
@Dayvidmykel but that goes back to the point that the sound never belong to Beyoncé or Amerie, it belonged to Harrison.
Dayvidmykel
@Quang Tran it is possible because many times songs are written, produced or even recorded years before they are released. For example the song ‘I Care 4 U’ by Aaliyah was recorded in 96 but was released in 2001.
Creole Gaudet
@PLT 4LIFE That's a fact, but the song in question is not Go Go. It's New Orleans.
